If you look at the latest survey for what class you want next for fifth edition, you may notice Psionics are not on the list. When asked about it via Twitter, Mearls was slightly coy, but essentially confirmed it. (My phone is horrid, you can find this conversation on sageadvice.eu)

I think he is just being coy. I dont expect to see a Psion character any time sun, at least not untill the adventure paths that are being released are set more heavily for Dark SUn, or another setting with a strong history of Psionics

I would not be surprised to see psionics either this fall or next spring.  I would be shocked if they didn't show up until after that.

If you go through his Twitter posts and his Reddit AMAs, Psionics is something he's been talking about for a long time now. Since at least January.

I'm sure it's on the list of classes to make.

It's just a matter of when.

Well, the next UA article should be this Monday, right? It seems to be the first Monday of each month. I may be wrong about that, though. But here's hoping! I just hope they nail it a bit more than their original Artificer...

I agree, it’s only a matter of time. I’d be surprised if they appeared this early, but there have been a number of people clamoring for them. Me, I’m an anti-psionics guy, but if they can do them right and balanced, that might change.

I noticed the warlord is also unavailable in the list. That's sad, I really miss the warlord class. The Battlemaster Fighter Archetype comes close to the concept, but not enough.

Agreed. Psionics have a bad track record with me, but this edition has been tops so far.

....looks like they uploaded half the pdf, unless I'm missing something. No listing for how many HP per level, or saving throws proficiency, etc. It's like it's missing the first page.

Mearls just confirmed via Twitter they uploaded the wrong thing... Not all the info is there.

Been corrected and released. Immortals are... Wow. Cross them with Bear Barbarian and you have one tough character. I think they'll need to be reworked a little.

Well this is the forum of optimisation so...

One level dip for any class.

Floating proficiency and your choice of +1 AC or a +1 weapon (works with improvised weapons too so +1 Severed Leg yay!)

I'm leery about their balance, that's for sure. Immortals can totally dump Intelligence, it seems, if they really wanted to. Seems Immortals can also basically scale with Rogue's sneak attack damage using their Psi Points. I'm afraid they might get a second attack at lv6, though. Dunno if or how badly that upsets balance.

Oh, and a tidbit of info: Spell Points from the DMG are the basis for Psi Points. So if you want to go to level six, at least you've got a basis. Mearls said all this on Twitter, check it all out at sageadvice.eu
