| #1dletoAug 13, 2014 17:57:08 | Extra attack: Begining at 5th level, you can attack twice, instead of once, whenever you take the Attack action on your turn. The number of attacks increases to three when you reach 11th level in this class and to four when you reach 20th level in this class.
Action Surge: Starting at 2nd level, you can push yourself beyond your normal limits for a moment. On your turn, you can take one additional action on top of your regular action and a possible bonus action.
Since the action surge provided action is clearly a full action that is not a bonus action and the extra attack modifies the baseline Attack action to hit up to 4 times at level 20. Could you then attack up to 8 times (9 with a bonus action attack such as from two weapon fighting) in one turn on the same target by using an action surge to get a 2nd Attack action?
Also as a followup what is the maximum number of attacks that can be made by one character against one target in a single round? any class, build etc... just trying to figure this out. |

It's an effective way of letting fighters keep up with wizards (or any spellcaster really) without 4th ed nerfing of spellcasters. All the classes have an epic feel to them now at high level.
And, yes, I know that Meteor Swarm puts Fireball (and the poor fighter) to shame. I was just using low level spells to show scaling. |

Features allow you to do an action, which is on top of your normal Action (so a "bonus" Action if you will), but you can only do it once per turn. Action Surge would have to go out of its way to say "and you can take a total of 2 bonus actions this turn, instead of one" to "give" you a second one. |
