Would it be reasonably strong? I imagine a character that mostly casts Hex(with the Warlock spell slots) and Eldritch Blast and then use Paladin spells for party support or out of combat utility or other things based on subclass. By being a ranged attacker, I would hopefully have more freedom to apply auras where necessary and help protect squishier party members. Maybe I would even take the Protection fighting style so I could use my reactions to grant disadvantage to enemies who manage to reach more vulnerable party member and instead hopefully persuade them to attack the AC 20+ d10 hp spell caster in the back.
Any suggestions? What would I do to optimize something like this? Is this a reasonable goal to attempt? |

If you want to do more support stuff, try Bardlock or Sorclock (using short-rest spell slots to charge metamagic spell points is just awesome, as well as twinning eldrich blasts).
It's not that you would be weak as a ranged paladin/warlock, but a couple major sources of your power would be unused. |

I just see a really crappy Wizard with some mediocre in-combat healing and some inspiration dice who has to poach great spells from other class's lists to offset what has to be one of the most boring spell lists I have ever seen for a full caster. Without some crazy broken shenanigans that Bards can pull off that just absolutely WOW me, I can't really convince myself to play that class. |

Support with the non-save spells like guidance, bless, cure wounds, restoration, regeneration, wind walk, ect... and be mostly Wis independant. Then just blast away with EB from the back. You get armor and shields as well. Nature clerics get an psudo-arua at 6, life for extra healing, trickster for some nice defensive spells and stealth support, or even war to boost attacks. |
