Fighter 14, Bard 6

Battle Master, College of Lore

Variant Human (+1 to Str and Cha)

S: 16, I: 12, W: 8*, Dx: 10, Cn: 14, Ch: 20

*(Swapping Wis and Int would be practical; the higher Int is for flavor.)

Feats (7 Total):

+2 CHA x 2

+1 STR, +1 CON

Inspiring Leader

Sentinel

Shield Master

War Caster

(Some people might pick Healing; I think it's too powerful/cheesy so I pretend it's not there)

Fighting Style: Protection

Maneuvers: Rally, Commander's Strike, Distracting Strike, Pushing Attack, Goading Attack

Additional Magical Secrets: Bless & Haste

Spells (among others):

(C) Vicious Mockery

(1) Dissonant Whispers

(2) Hold Person

(3) Hypnotic Pattern

He uses shield to knock enemies prone for his allies

If an ally gets attacked he can use his reaction to get a free attack or impose disadvantage (the latter is excellent for letting an ally move without disengaging)

Can also impose penalties on enemies with Cutting Words or Vicious Mockery

He can control enemy positioning and movement via fears, taunts, shoves, Sentinel, and spells (e.g., fear an enemy through your allies, provoking AoO's, then throw a hand-axe and use Goading Attack to pull him back through, provoking more AoO's.)

He can give temporary HP via Inspiring Leader or Rally

He gives the party bonuses via Bless and Inspiration

Thoughts?

You could tweak the spell selection and make him a better healer.

I don't get why "RAW" is in the title. Unless you meant "Rawr" :P

It's nice, it's a very intruiging build that has some of the important features of a warlord, a focus on enabling, and teamwork that is just lovely. Any suggestions on getitng form level 1 to level 20 because it would be nice to be abel to do at least some of that stuff before you get to that level.

I'm not certain about his party composition compatibility though.

It's hard to analyze without a couple snapshots at different levels.  Things like Vicious Mockery are not things you want to be doing with a 20th level character, but at level 1, it's decent.

You might find the reliance on Cha a bit limiting at high level when you are casting 3rd level spells maximum.

I definitely like the style of the build.  Acting as a facilitator for other party members is my favorite kind of character, but I think you may find this build is providing diminishing returns.

However, I could see this character being a lot of fun, and probably fairly effective from levels 1-10.  I would recommend Bard 4 - Fighter 6 or Bard 1 - Fighter 9 for the first 10 levels.
