| #1JoryC21GamerJan 20, 2015 12:15:05 | Hey guys, I'm curious if anybody knows where I can find Holy Scriptures for the Deities of the Forgotten Realms. I have a Cleric who is constantly quoting scipture, yet I'm unsure where to find some. Am I encouraged to just make it up as I go? |
| #2AaronOfBarbariaJan 20, 2015 12:51:48 | Before D&D ever had the chance to get around to making up a lot of in-character scripture, the game ran into that whole religion-fueled demonization of the game as being and encouraging satanism that resulted in a period of active avoidance of anything that might be used as evidence of those claims being true, such as in-game scripture would have been.
So yes, you are encouraged to just make it up.
If you can find a copy of the old Forgotten Realms supplements titled Demihuman Deities, Powers and Pantheons, and Faiths and Avatars, you may find their content to be inspirational in your making things up (and yes, the Forgotten Realms really did have 3 books just to cover the deities present in the setting durine one edition). |
| #3paulstraitJan 20, 2015 17:34:47 | Those three supplements Aaron mentioned are, in my opinion, some of the best rpg supplements ever made. I'd add that you may want to look for the old 2e supplement Prayers from the Faithful, which details temple tomes for all the major Faerunian deities. |
