Resilient(Wisdom) or Observant

I am soon going to play a fighter/rogue who will be doing most of the groups scouting, among other things.

 

Either going to pick up Observant or Resilent(Wisdom) at 11 or 15. The feat those two will compete with is sharpshooter.

 

Both will bump me up to 16 Wis.

 

Passive perception is 20 w/ observant and 15 w/ res(wis)

 

Was wondering what people thought. Will +3 Wisdom be good enough so I can take observant, or "should" I take Reslient"Wis"? And "should" I get it at 11 or 15(sharpshooter will be the other level feat.)?

That totally depends on the group in question and the campaign. If you are just planning your character outside the group, then I would say 15 PP is high enough for 90% of what I've run into and observant would mostly overkill - take Res (wis) at 11 and Sharpshooter at 15.

 

However, if you have a paladin, abjurer, cleric who likes to cast bless, a really good tank or a DM that loves traps, my choice could change.

You could use Expertise on your Perception and get a boost that way.

My Monk/rogue is designed to achieve Perception(max).  High WIS, trained skill, expertise.  I've already made an AL DM to modify a mapping expedition because my Perception was more than the listed Search DCs.  (Which led us directly into an extra fight, I think - oh well, we had the time for it because we didn't have to keep rolling to see if we noticed the surroundings.)  Adding Observant at L4 will mean my Passive Perception = 22; 24 when my Proficiency bonus steps up at L5.  I am the Designated Scout in any group.
