#1 Napolean_Warlord Aug 27, 2015 20:36:45	Two questions:   1) Any thoughts on a good party to go against the Drow and Demons in RoD for organized play?   Paladin Cleric [usual random 1] [usual random 2] etc   2) What will you play for RoD? In my experience Warlock's get short shrift in organized wednesday play (not enough short rests per long rest) and wizards can't buy/scribe scrolls or engage in magic item creation making them less fun to play.   Our FLGS usually has a ton of melee folks.  I was thinking about Cleric but it seems a little boring - so I was considering Valor Bard or Favored Soul sorceror.  Each can do a few different things depending on the composition of the table.   Super open ended question but looking forward to your thoughts!
#2 Danny_Montanny Aug 28, 2015 5:45:54	Unless I'm unaware of a change, Favored Soul can't be played in Adventure League.   I think the best tactics against this new threat will involve stealth and subterfuge. Characters without Darkvision will be at a big disadvantage. Depending on the way you guys do it at your shop (all of our tables are randomized), you might be able to come up with a party structure that may work better than others. I just wouldn't bank on it.   Make a character that has a reason to join and help others face this new peril. The rest will work itself out.
(Reply to #2) Napolean_Warlord	Thanks Danny   In PotA I've been playing a warlock with Devil's Sight and Blindness and have gotten to use that trick zero times as inevitably one of the people on the table gets tired of stealth and shouts charge!  Naturally whenever there is an ambush we get the tar beaten out of us...
#4 Danny_Montanny Aug 28, 2015 12:13:27	It's hard to have everyone on the same page sometimes. Especially if it's not the same group of players every week. Get the DM to spend a little bit more time before the session to have the players discuss their characters and potential tactics that they'd likely use. Not only will this inform the players of what they have available, it'll give the DM a heads up of potential things to look out for.   I have a Warlock with Awakened Mind and the Actor feat. He likes to telepathically communicate to creatures he's interacting with using their own voices to help sway the interaction in his favor. If my DM didn't know about it ahead of time, they'd be left scrambling on how to adjudicate and the other players might be wondering what the hell I was talking about.
#5 BRJN Aug 28, 2015 16:38:44	I have a HotDQ "Warlord" Paladin and an AL "scout" Monk/Rogue.  A new RoD character might be a Tiefling Bard (because my Tiamat group is giving me some nasty ideas what to do with it) with a concentration in Debuffs. Buy a silvered weapon as soon as you can.  MM Devils have vulnerability but MM Demons don't.  Who knows what you will really run into?   Not AL-legal: tiefling variant that gets Storm-themed racial spells instead of Dante-themed.  I can wish...
