| #1jnicsAug 01, 2014 12:35:46 | Are you able to use sneak attack outside of combat?. Say your teammates gets close to a monster can you use it? Im trying to think of ways to throw our DM off or at least make him think. So like i said is this stretching the rules or would it be up to your DM. |

In general though, attacking an enemy caught unaware like this would probably be treated as a surprise during the first round of combat. |

I'd require you to make a sleight of hand check against passive perception of the target before allowing you to do this. |
