What metamagics you go with depends largely upon both your spell selection as well as the kind of campaign you're in, but by 10th level I think the lionshare of Sorcs are optimal with twin, quicken, and empower.
I rather like the Sorc, but since all the class's metamagics aren't relatively equal, with some powers that are typically a must have, and others merely situational for most campaigns and spell lists, I would like to see the Sorc get all the metamagics by 15th level like this...
3rd: 2 5th: 1 7th: 1 9th: 1 11th: 1 13th: 1 15th: 1
I really don't see this OPing the Sorc in any way. |

By 10th, I keep leaning towards Subtle spell. I Like the idea of casting some spells that use V and/or S without doing anything. I picture the sorcerer just standing there, then ..... Fire storm or Finger of death |

Would also come handy if affected by silence spell or if bound |

Think Hypnotic Pattern or other area-effect spells that require saves to be unaffected, but don't deal damage (or deal 0 damage on saves). It's a prime ability for those sorts of spells.
Evokers have better facility with their ability for damaging (evocation) spells, but the metamagic ability doesn't limit itself to those applications.
