| #1daspianApr 18, 2015 10:14:57 | i have yet to see a review of the Favored Soul features, and i am not sure if they are that great, i am considering if it is even good, i was considering going death domain for the flavor of the character i had in mind, but i wanted to bring up yet again the age old question:.... Wizard or Sorcerer? i have read a number of reviews prior to this some arguing that in this edition, sadly the wizard is better than the sorcerer, or thats the way it seems.... i wanted to know if this is the general assumption still with the new favored soul options?
as for what i mean by "better", i have heard that the new changes to the sorcerer don't do it justice to what the theme difference used to be (one had more spell choices, other had more spell per day) and that the spell points and metamagic don't have nearly anything on the wiz school features.
anyways, i guess what i'm asking for is for the guides on these forums to hopefully be updated to all the new changes, the only ones i have seen updated are the paladins with oathbreaker an cleric with death domain, but none of the guides have sadly been updated for the new races, elemental spells, or new class options =S
so i ask all of you; Wizard... or Sorcerer? |

Note that, as far as I can recall, that Favored Souls only get access to spells granted by Domain. Not the whole Cleric list.
Quickened heal spells can prevent a TPK.
I say Sorc over Wizard, if you want to be a blaster. If you want a support magic user, I say Wizard. The best attraction of the Sorc is the Metamagic, absolutely. Provides a lot of versatility. Wizards are much more locked-in in regards to what they get in regards to their magic schools, the bonuses they receive. Sorcs are more open in that regard. |
| #3daspianApr 18, 2015 10:41:16 | is the sorc favored soul viable if i'm not into the healing spells provided from the life domain? i was interested in the death domain. |
| #4jaappletonApr 18, 2015 11:25:18 | Well, it's viable. No doubt there. Basically, the only classes/archetype you should completely avoid is Ranger - Beastmaster.
Is it 100% optimal? Will you be more destructive than a Fire Dragon Sorcerer spamming Scorching Rays? Nah.
Will you hold your own and be pretty good at what you do? Yeah. There's nothing wrong with it. Do you get flavor points for being a Favored Soul of Death? Yeah, that is pretty cool. |

| #9CooperjeraApr 24, 2015 12:39:35 | Since this class was released in PDF format on blog by a Wizards employee I wonder how much playtesting it recieved. I would consider the design a first pass and want to talk with the DM about any changes that do not feel right as the character progresses. |
