| #1JaidenthejadedMay 30, 2015 11:41:31 | Hi all
I am a relatively new player to D&D (but not to gaming in general) and I have a couple ideas to change/fix Sorcerers that I wanted to see how other people thought of them.
What (IMO) defines a Sorcerer is their sorcery points but they don't have many ways to gain them back (a long rest or sacrificing a spell slot).
As I was looking over the other classes I noticed that a Monk has a somewhat similar power (Ki) that can do a bunch of things to help them out, but that they can get them all back with a short rest/Meditation.
Since IMO sorcery points are stronger than Ki, what if a Sorcerer got back half of their sorcery points on a short rest? I don't think that it would break the class and it would better represent how the magic is an internal part of the Sorcerer (magic comes from within).
This change would affect the Sorcerer's level 20 ability Sorcerous Restorations which is you regain 4 expanded sorcery points whenever you finish a short rest. I would change it to the Monk's 20th level ability Perfect self which stats, when you roll for initiative and have no Ki points remaining, you regain 4 Ki points.
So the new Sorcerer's 20th level ability would read, when you roll for initiative and have no sorcery points remaining, you regain 4 sorcery points.
OR
I have also thought of another 20th ability for Sorcerers. I call it Sorcerous Perfection, when you use sorcery points to create a new spell slot or to use Metamagic, you use 1 less sorcery point (Minimum 1)
What do you guys honestly think. Too powerful? Not needed? Or just right?
Thanks for any and all feedback. |
