#1 NobleNewb Jun 12, 2015 23:07:00	So when a spell requires certain items to cast it for example powdered silver, does that spell consume said item? i know some spells specificaly say it consumes a item but not sure if it says that becasue those spells require expensive ingredients. If the spell is not consuming the ingredient then what is the use? is the spell being channed through the ingredients?
#2 transcendantviewer Jun 13, 2015 0:23:20	Unless the spell specifically states that the material components are consumed, they're just necessary to cast the spell. Think of casting a spell as plucking just the right stings of magic with just the right motions, components, and vocalizations to produce an effect. You know how to do it, and then you force a bit of your own magic into it, causing the spell to take shape. The material components are like an ingredient in the creation of the spell. Sometimes, they're consumed, others, they're just needed for casting but aren't consumed.
