| #1MrBloodpuppySep 05, 2014 5:21:40 | We have not actually played yet. The Dm is setting up the game and im mapping out my character. The DM can be rough with you if you dont like your character, If you dont like something you cant chage, only way to change is to die and he can make that hard if he knows you want to die. If you like something, thats when he kills you.
I like to plan my character to a mid lvl so there is no "OOpppppssss" i should have taken this.
As a moon druid i dont know how long i will be in animal shape(i dont know if there are any other healers) Question is How important are the Stats boosts at 4-8-12 and so on? SHould i be taking feats instead? Lvl 1 human im taking warcaster OR Magic adept . If i go warcaster i would like mage slayer and sentinal also BUT i am worried about not raising my stats(Wis+Con) What do you think? |

In general, you should plan to boost your Wisdom, but this is not a top priority and can be deferred. War Caster is very important to you, particularly at low levels, so that you can maintain Concentration on spells that you cast before entering wildshape form. It is generally the first feat I take. At higher levels, I would complement this with Resilient (Con). |
| #3SorxoresSep 05, 2014 5:38:44 | for moon druid your stats doesn't really matter.
Still go for 15 Wisdom (+1 Human to gain 16) this way when you are NOT in animal form you still have some spell casting ability in order to still be usefull. Dex can be interestig to get a good Initiative and decent AC and Constitution so you can survive between transformation.
Then I would suggest to take Warcaster to gain advantage on your concentration, so when you cast barkskin before tranforming into a tiger form, you can keep 16AC and even when you get hit, you can keep the spell active and not loose your spell. |

While I wouldn't go overboard you should make sure all three mental stats are good. Obviously max Wisdom but you don't need to dump Intelligence or Charisma.
For feats consider things like Mobile, Warcaster, Resilient (Con), Grappler, possibly Alert or Observant if you're going to be using scout-type shapes, Sentinel and Mage Slayer are worth considering and Lucky is good for any character. If you do bump up charisma decently and nobody else in the party has it you might like Inspiring Leader if it fits your character concept at all. |
| #5MrBloodpuppySep 05, 2014 8:06:44 | They are all good feats. But like i was saying if i take them im stuck at 16wis/dex,15Con,10,int,str,cha my whole life.
Not sold on grappler, dont really see a bonus to grappling people unless its a caster and you have mage slayer.
Sentinel is probably to good to pass up.
Maybe i should just take warcaster and sent and the rest stat bonuses.

| (Reply to #5)PeteZero | Was thinking to take Str 10, Dex 14, Con 15, Int 8 Wis 16, Cha 10 then War caster and Resilient (Con) as first feats. Or is there a better distribution for stats? |
| #7KentusSep 05, 2014 14:46:35 | I see no problems there, having above average DEX and CON are good for surprise and initiative. Since being in wild shape while adventering all the time can be a pain.
Depending on what kind of spells you'll use, you might even not need WIS 20. Since it'll really matter, as long as you plan to use a lot of control/damaging-spells. Moon druids don't need to, I can see them more preparing buff and healing, while having some out-of-combat spells ready. |
| #8MrBloodpuppySep 05, 2014 15:46:06 | A little off topic here but does character proficiency bonus stack into a animal shapes attack bonus? |

| #10DireachSep 05, 2014 23:50:07 | My wood elf Moon druid has the following stats at lvl 3:
Str 12 Dex 16 Con 14 Int 8 Wis 16 Cha 8
I wanted him to be strong and physically fit in his humanoid form, so I gave him good physical stats. He uses a longbow (thanks to elven weapon proficiency), so the high Dex is helpful for long range combat and initiative. He was raised deep in Cormanthor, and did not have any formal education, so his Int is not very high. A long period of solitary life following the destruction of his tribe led to severely underdeveloped social skills (hence the low Cha). Meditation, observation, the druidic training of his youth, and conversations with ancient fey led to his high Wis score.
I plan to take Warcaster at 4th, then a stat boost at 8... I haven't planned much farther out than that. Wisdom is the only stat I really need to max, though I wouldn't mind an 18 Dex eventually. |

| #12LongTimeLurkerSep 06, 2014 9:19:34 | I took the Sentinel feat on my human Circle of the Moon druid. Being a large creature you're already blocking a fair amount of space, Sentinel then makes it even more difficult to avoid to go after the squishies in the back. You've got a huge pool of bonus hit points from Giant Boar or Dire Wolf. Any damage directed at you is not being directed at the rest of your party, so it's preventative healing. |
