| #2melloredOct 09, 2014 10:47:41 | Is there a reason you want so many cantrips?
Moderatly armored seems like it would do you alot better. |

I had my eye on some of the more popular cantrips like Guidance or Vicious Mockery, but I can grab those with my Warlock's level 3 feature (Pact of the Tome).
I suppose a better question would be which feat will I benefit from the most? Moderately Armored definitely makes sense, or maybe War Caster or Resilient for the bonuses to Con saves? |

I wanted my character to have lots of option, so the Magic Initiate Feat has been very useful. If I was going Blade Pact, then I would consider access to Medium Armor via Moderately Armored. It's a great feat, as are many other feats.
When I was creating my character, I had a tough time for choosing feats. My character is a spy in the Rashemi Secret Service.
Actor, Alert, Dungeon Delver, Keenn Mind, Linguist, Lucky, Magic Initiate, Observant, Resillient, Spell Sniper, Tough and War Caster.
I chose Magic Initiate, as a way of expanding the magical repertoire of my Warlock. Why not have more Cantrips than a Sorcerer?
I chose Bard, as the spellcasting skill is Charisma and I wanted synergy for my character.
Storywise, my Warlock was the daughter of a powerful Othlor, an elite Hathran. She was meant to have powerful sorcery or Wizardry, but put it bluntly she is only of average Intelligence and although she is charming, absolutely has no talent for Sorcery or even Bardcraft.
Whilst training in Spycraft, her dreams were haunted by an enigmatic Arch Fey, who offered her power, prestige and fulfilment of her Destiny in exchange for a few minor favours. Although my character has the feat, she never underwent Bard Training. The Cantrips and the spell she gained were simply gifts from her patron. Cure Wounds, Mending and Message.
Level 3 Warlock has 2 Cantrips, a Tome Pact Warlock has 5 Cantrips, and if either takes the Magic Initiate Feat once is 4 or 7 Cantrips. Sorcerers get 6 Cantrips known at 10th level, Wizards know 5 Cantrips at 10th level. Now if your Warlock reaches 10th level as a Warlock then they would have 4 or 7 or 9 Cantrips known. 4 as a10th level Warlock without feats. 7 if they were a Tome Pact Warlock with no Feats or 9 Cantrips known if the Tomelock took the Magic Initiate Feat.
A Tomelock is the more spell casting Warlock, but with Magic Initiate becomes a spellcasting legend or rock star. |
