| #1whitishknightOct 27, 2014 15:23:47 | I've seen a few discussions on portent's fixed rolls, namely on making the save against death for magic jar. What other spells would work well for this class feature? |
| #2slumgumOct 27, 2014 15:33:05 | Mirror Image requires a d20 roll to work.
The most obvious use though is subbing in a creatures attack against you with a low roll or subbing an allies important attack roll with a high roll (like wouldn't want to miss the initial Witch Bolt!) |
| #3ZardnaarOct 27, 2014 17:12:27 | Any spell that only has 1 roll associated with it so not spells like Scorching Ray and Eldritch Blast. Stick it on allies spells they cast like contagion if you need a high roll; (to hit) or on save or suck type spells if you have a 10 or lower type roll. |
| #4melloredOct 29, 2014 12:36:17 | Mass Suggestion. |
| #5awaken_D_M_golemOct 29, 2014 12:49:46 | ... to make sure I remember my kitty avatar's new secret password.
But yeah, guaranteeing your top level spell, with the first one, and a solid get-out-of-jail-or-other-b.s. with the second one. |

| #7Dark_KainOct 29, 2014 18:24:38 | Well mass suggestion is cool because it can makes allies from enemies and it is not a concentration spell. So you just need that the relevant targets fail the saving throw. |
| #8melloredOct 29, 2014 20:52:10 | well, it's not quite as powerfull as making someone your ally, but it's close enough. but yea, at very least you can suggest they live a docile life, without concentration, and long durration. |
| #9Dark_KainOct 30, 2014 1:48:51 | It depends: if your enemies motivation are based on greed you can suggest that their boss has lotsa riches so come with us we are going to kill and loot him anyway. If they do it for spell or arcane knowledge you can suggest them that you have more and are willing to share after the boss goes down. If they are are working under him due to tradition/lowality/lawfuldunces motivation, you can suggest that they have been betrayed first. If they do it for fun and gore you can suggest them that your side has extra bloody battles. If they do it because religion or morality you can suggest them that "we are on a mission for god"
Plus infinite other options based on your actual campaign.
With enough creativity suggestion spells are very powerful turncoat spells, you just need to learn how to pick the right target (it's not like you are going to cast it a dozen of times in a day anyway). And if everything else is unavaible you can always say that today is really hot, they are sweating ad that city fountain (incidentally at 10km of distance) has fresh waters and it is ideal for a bath. |

I travel with a bag of beer holding. |
