I may be the only one but i liked the Genasi from 4th edition as a race. They offered multiple options and could exist as a race but for 5th edition they dropped some of the options and made them half breeds of human and genie, which should make they extremly rare but I don't get that feeling. It could be that I dont like them because some of the ones dropped were the types i liked the most and because of their origin in 5E they can't really exist now. But i decided to try and make they other Genasi anyway. They might be overpowered but i felt they might be close enough in power to the ones listed in the companion. They use all the other standard Genasi traits listed in the companion.

~~Storm Soul:  +1 Charisma, Lighting and Thunder resistance

Storm’s Rage: As a bonus action this character can enter a state were visible static arcs come off of their body. This state increases all thunder and lightning damage done and lasts for 1 minute, only ending if knocked unconscious. While active damage from attacks, spells, or features that deal thunder or lighting damage do extra damage equal to their constitution modifier + ½ their level (rounded down, minimum of 1). Also any target that is granted a save from an attack, spell, or feature that deals thunder or lightning damage does so with disadvantage. This feature is regained after a short or long rest.

Roar of the Storm: This character knows the cantrip Shocking Grasp. At 3rd level they can cast Thunder Wave once as a 1st level spell. This spell is regained after a long rest. Constitution is their spell casting ability for these spells.

--Cinder Soul: +1 Dexterity, Fire resistance

Dark vision: This character has 60 foot dark vision. Their eyes look like embers when in darkness.

Fire Death: Attacks die or weaken almost like hitting nothing but ash. When this character takes damage from an attack they can use their reaction to reduce that damage by 1d6+ ½ their level (rounded down, minimum of 1). This feature is regained after a short or long rest.

Rise from the Ashes: This character knows the cantrip Control Flames. At 3rd level they can cast Fog Cloud once as a 1st level spell. Instead of fog this spell produces thick smoke. This spell is regained after a long rest. Constitution is their spell casting ability for these spells.

--Plague Soul:  +1 Strength, Poison resistance

Plague Shield: This character has advantage on saves against poison and disease.

Coming of the Plague: This character knows the cantrip Poison Spray. At 3rd level they can cast Protection from Poison once as a 2nd level spell. This spell is regained after a long rest. Constitution is their spell casting ability for these spells.

--Caustic Soul:  +1 Dexterity, Acid resistance

Amphibious: This character can breathe air as well as water.

Swim: This characters swim speed is 30 feet.

Acid Surge: This character can release acid from their limber and agile bodies while moving. As a bonus action this character can move 1/s of its movement, provoking no opportunity attacks. All within 5 feet along its path take acid damage equal to its constitution modifier. This feature is regained after a short or long rest.

Flow of the Caustic: This character knows the cantrip Acid Splash. Constitution is their spell casting ability for this spell.

--Void Soul:  +1 Wisdom, Psychic resistance

Vanish: As a bonus action this character can vanish from existence until the beginning of their next turn when the reappear within 15 feet of their initial location (location determined by the player). This feature is regained after a short or long rest.

Lost to the Void: This character knows the cantrip Blade Ward. At 3rd level they can cast Arms of Hadar as a 1st level spell. This spell is regained after a long rest. Constitution is their spell casting ability for these spells.

I always thought that the genasi in 4th edition to be one of the best updates for a race. I loved the idea that members of the race could expand their elemental affinities and really hoped that that was going to be the case with 5th edition. Sadly, I was disappointed. But then, I guess there is always homebrew.

Thats why i made this homebrew. I really liked the Stormsoul Genasi and hoped it would be in 5E, but it was excluded for the background they gave the race which took away from them in my opinion. What it took away though besides some options was a character that could have been alot of fun a stormsoul tempest cleric/storm sorcerer, but with this homebrew its a start. Each Genasi was better suited for certain classes so the others should have been made for the option and their racial storyline worked better, now it is really just a character hook if they want it.
