This time, I'm thinking of starting a Human variant (Crossbow Expert) Fighter (Archery Style), and then going Bard. Two attacks from level 1 kinda offsets the lack of Extra Attack until level 7, plus a 2/day Swift Quiver at level 11. But I worried it might not hold up vs. purer builds. Rangers, for example, don't get Swift Quiver, but they do get Hoard Breaker. Fighters get 3 attacks all day every day, plus Action Surge 1/rest. Etc. So how do they compare? Do the Bard features make up for the lack of traditional weapon swinger features? Etc. |

You don't mention it, but I am assuming you are going Fighter 2 before switching.... What level(s) are you concerned about?

Spells more than make up for it though. Do note that you'll have quite a bit of competition for your bonus action. |
