| #1YunruAug 07, 2015 18:47:11 | Vampyric Patron:Expanded Spell List:
Vampyric Drain: Starting at 1st level, when you hit a creature with an attack you can spend a Hit Die. If you do add the number rolled to the attack's damage. Allure: Starting at 6th level, you can attempt to enthrall a humanoid creature you can see within 30 feet. The creature must make a Charisma saving throw vs your Warlock Spell DC or your attacks against that creature have advantage until the end of your next turn. Once you use this feature, you can't use it again until you complete a short or long rest. Vampyric Regeneration: Starting at 10th level, when you start your turn beneath half your hit point maximum, you regain hit points equal to half your Warlock level. Turn Victim: Starting at 14th level, when you reduce a creature to 0 hit points you can have it make a Constitution saving throw vs your Warlock Spell DC. On a failed save the creature rises again in 1d4 hours as a vampiric version of itself loyal to you. Once you use this feature, you can't use it again until you complete a long rest. |

| #3LasteEnygmaAug 08, 2015 1:00:00 | Awesome work! Just my 2 cents which means nothing haha but probably the changes I would make at my table would be:
Vampyric Drain: I would probably use a Necrotic version of the paladin's smite. Same rules apply for max spell slot and melee attack, using your spell casting ability for accuracy purposes. Grab the alter self invocation and get some teeth and claw melee attacks in there!
Regeneration: I'd go with 1/2 level honestly. That way it competes with the Champion's regeneration, but you get the added bonus of not having to have a Con Tax for it.
Turn Victim: I'd probably line this up with the Great Old One 14th level feature, adding possibly the vampire template for when pc's turn(don't have the book in front of me) otherwise it's ripe for possible abuse( more so than the great old one feature already is!)
Just my thoughts, don't take them as concrete, love the idea, keep it up! |
| #4jaappletonAug 08, 2015 5:16:17 | I like it. It's simple. Nothing complex, like a lot of Homebrewers do. It works.
I do agree with having Vampiric Drain being Necrotic damage, though. Fits more thematically. |
| #5spanglemakerAug 08, 2015 6:36:26 | I quite like this, but I would suggest a couple of changes to your Expanded Spell List.
Suggestion, is already on the Warlock list, so maybe replace it with Animal Messenger or Beast Sense.
Raise Dead, I would replace with Geas or Modify Memory

| #6GodwynAug 08, 2015 11:22:36 | Regeneration is way too good for that level. Considering a primary combatant (champion) gets it at level 18. Perhaps tie it to the vampiric drain, give them more synergy together and also fits the flavor. Gain fast healing equal to the damage rolled from Vampyric drain perhaps, or fast healing up to 1/2 hp when they either hit or kill a creature with vampyric drain. Still seems too powerful without some sort of limitation.
I also agree with LasteEnygma, Turn victim also seems far too powerful without more limitations on it. Perhaps require the target be killed with an attack using the vampiric drain ability. And limit it to one loyal follower at a time, like create thrall. Even once the charm ends, the former thrall will still be a vampire, so the additional limitation seems decent. |
| #7YunruAug 08, 2015 11:34:42 | Turn Victim allows more than Create Thrall, true. However they all have the standard vampire weakness, and that's only if they fail their saving throw. I will think on the regeneration. |
| #8ShinQuickManAug 08, 2015 12:08:41 | I agree with LasteEnygma: Turn Victim is just way too strong. There has to be a hard cap on both the creature's level and amount of monster's you can control at a time. Looking at the Necromancer's Control Undead ability, I'd say that it should only allow control of one creature at a time, and that such control is limited to creatures with a CR equal to or less than your own level. I might also be inclined to only allow humanoids to turn. |
| #9Ghost_GallusAug 08, 2015 13:14:34 | Regeneration at twice your warlock level is way overpowered. Warlock will have (with 16 Con and static HP increase) ~80 HP at level 10. So when they have 39 or less HP they gain back 20 on thier turn. At level 20 (~160 HP) they gain back 40 HP on any turn they start at 79 or less. |
| #10daspianAug 08, 2015 14:52:31 | balancing issues aside as i do not have my books with me right this second, might i say perhaps look for inspiration from the 4e Vampire Class (while largely underwhelming to most and considered to be a "bleh" class in 4e, you can find some really cool flavorful abilities that can be converted to 5e with some thought and definitely provide some great inspiration for ideas. |
| #11MechatarrasqueAug 08, 2015 17:15:14 | I like it. I would add a new invocation for once a day conjure animals (Children of the Night). |
