Voodooist/Vodouist (Bard Subclass)

For starters….

I realise that the Death Domain Cleric has some of this, and religion seems right.

I know the Necromancer Wizard has some of this.

I know the Great Old One Warlock has some of this.

And I know I can flavour a lot of this. I don’t want armies of darkness, and/or have to be evil.

So here’s a different take on it. Some of Voodooism or Vodouism is about celebration; drums beating, dramatic rituals, dancing, dressing for the part, storytelling, inspiring, fire breathing, losing yourself in the moment. In a word, it could be about Performance.

No-one does Performance better than the Bard, and a lot of the Bard’s spells already support the concept. So;

College of Voodooism

I know college is kind of the wrong name for this but it’s what the bard uses.

Bonus Proficiencies

When you join the College of Voodooism at 3rd level, you gain proficiency and Expertise in the Performance skill. You also become proficient with the Herbalism Kit.

Spirit Mockery

Also at 3rd level, the spirits of the dead augment your most basic powers. When you cast Vicious Mockery, you can choose to cast it at a range of touch. If you do so, add your Charisma modifier per die to the damage it deals on a hit.

If cast at range, add half your Charisma modifier (rounded down) per die to the damage it deals on a hit. All extra damage is psychic.

High Priest/Priestess’s Expanded Spell List

Starting at 6th level, add Spare the Dying, Mirror Image, Revivify, and Imprisonment (burial or slumber only) to the Bard’s spell list to choose from. You also gain resistance to psychic damage.

Dirge of the Dead

Starting at 14th level, you can expend one use of Bardic Inspiration to maximise the damage of any of your spells that deal psychic damage. Creatures immune to psychic damage are considered resistant for this attack, and any creatures initially resistant to psychic damage lose their resistance for this attack.

Also, as a reaction, you can expend one use of Bardic Inspiration to change your psychic resistance to immunity. This immunity lasts until the start of your next turn.

Any thoughts/ideas?

I'm sure I've gone overboard with the power. Would welcome help with levelling

Thanks for time and input in advace, cheers.
