I was re-reading these feats today, and realized I had mad an error in judgement when reading the Warcaster feat.... An error, I am sure that many of us have also made.   The Warcaster feat does not allow you to cast a spell as an opportunity attack. When a hostile creature's movement provokes an opportunity attack from you, you can use your reaction to cast a spell at the creature, rather than making an opportunity attack. I have bolded the relevant part.    This wording causes no problem with the polearm master feat (although the jury is out whether the OA is triggered at 5ft, or 10ft, depending on your interpretation of the reach weapon quality). At worst, since you are casting the spell instead of making an OA with your polearm - you may be restricted to casting the spell when your opponent moves adjacent to you, as all adjacent squares are always within your reach (barring status conditions).    I see nothing in the rules that would prevent you from casting a reaction-spell at this time however. Ask your DM how they interpret the wording of the polearm master feat, as that will determine whether your ranged attack spells suffer disadvantage or not.   It does however, prevent the reaction-spell from triggering the first effect of the Sentinel feat. When you hit a creature with an opportunity attack, the creatures speed becomes 0 for the rest of the turn. Your reaction-spell does not count as an opportunity attack. It is a reaction you are capable of taking instead of an opportunity attack.   An opportunity attack is a specific type of reaction. The spell granted by the Warcaster feat is another specific example, while the melee weapon attack granted by the Sentinel feat is a third.    I hope this helps anyone who has had any confusion with the interaction between these feats.
