Warlock 14, pact of the blade, fiendish patron. Fighter 5, dueling fighting style, battle master archetype. Barbarian 1. Bearing in mind we don't stick to multiclass requirements at our table so Multiple Attribute Dependency won't be such an issue.

Human (variant) for race. Starting feat: mounted combatant. Starting skill: deception.

Background: acolyte (I think). She's been seduced into a cult, sold to a fiendish patron to further the cult' s agenda, but she found herself on the good side of the fiend and do survived what was supposed to be a fatal encounter. The cultists did not survive, though the greater cult did (so the background feature still works).

Skills: arcana, persuasion (allowed to choose it by the DM), insight, religion.

STR: +2 (14)

DEX: +0 (10)

CON: +2 (14)

INT: +0 (10)

WIS: +0 (10)

CHA: +3 (16)

The way this game (which my wife will run for me) will work is this: I'm to make a level 20 character, and on a game by game basis we'll decide between us what kind of session we want to play and which level my character will be at. That way I'll get to experience high level play and we won't necessarily be stuck in a rigid cause-effect quest line. For example: if my wife gets stuck one game or I'm not enjoying the way things are going, we can skip ahead without too much bother.

Feats/ability score improvements will be decided once I've constructed the character for each level and game. I'm looking at: alert, lucky, linguist, keen mind, savage attacker, skilled, and war caster.

Equipment to be decided once I find the teaser thread on wealth by level.

So... any feedback on the level 20 build would be appreciated. I'm particularly after comments pointing out contradictions or outright broken aspects of the character. E.g. thirsting blade invocation grants two attacks per attack action, won't stack with fighter' s extra attack feature (I imagine, correct me if I'm wrong).

We're not sure yet if I'm going to run more than one character, but I want this one to be a badass. I'm enjoying the thought of her being pale and beautiful, but bald from preparation for sacrifice, savagely hacking down plate armoured warriors in her thick furs with a weapon summoned from her demonic partner. And all the while she's furthering his will, he's planning on bedding and eating her, and she's planning on bedding him and knocking him off to replace him in his position of power.

Why the 5 in fighter?

Extra hit points, action surge and second wind, and the archetype. I suppose I could go fighter 3 and a different class, but there wasn't anything else I particularly wanted to take. Plus, feat or ability score increase at level... 4, I think.

While going Fighter 5 doesn't stack with the Thirsting Blade invocation (extra attack), you also lose out on getting access to the level 15 invocations.   The devs have clarified the Invocations to be based on class level, not on character.

I'm assuming you're going Battlemaster with the Fighter Subclass, since that's actually the more effective of the three available for a blade warlock.

Feats/ability score improvements will be decided once I've constructed the character for each level and game. I'm looking at: alert, lucky, linguist, keen mind, savage attacker, skilled, and war caster.

I've had a look at the level 15 invocations and so far I can't see any I'd be appalled at losing out on, but I'll have a think about it as I work on the character. Going 15 in warlock would give access to 8th level spells from the mystic arcanum though, which is tempting.

I am going battle master, yes, and selecting the dueling style.

I've had a quick look over the spells that require concentration. There are some that stand out (dominate monster, specifically) but again, nothing I'd feel too bad at losing out on. Please feel free to point any out of you think they're worth reconsidering though.

Looks like warlock 15/fighter 4/barbarian 1 might be a contender. Thanks for the advice so far, guys.

Ballarat

Where I live, incidentally.

Old gold mining town. So that fits.
