Why is Wisdom the weakest?

I was looking through the races of the 5e PHB and I came across something a little confusing.

Wisdom is the only stat that you can't get a +2 with any race only a +1. Each other stat has a race that you can get a +2 in. Why have Wotc done this? is it for any particular reason or a possible oversight?

It's not the weakest. It's just the hardest to obtain (which doesn't say much).

Don't the Aasmir (or something) start with +2 Wisdom?

Ok, that makes sense. That would mean that no races are naturally Wise. :D    @Yunru The Aasimir start with a +1 Wis.

Aasimar are +1 Wis, +2 Con. But in the DMG example, it's weird, because they typically state the higher bonus first. But they state the lower bonus first before listing the higher.

Variant Human, put a +1 in Wisdom and pick a +1 Wisdom feat.

I haven't looked at the DMG NPC race stat chart for a while ... maybe 1 of those works.

Yeah, my phone autocorrected that. I have "Con" listed as a word, but apparently I haven't told my phone "Cha" is an abbreviation just yet. DARN YOU, ANDROID!

Varient Human with Observant (Wisdom) or Resiliant (Wisdom) starts with +2 Wis.

Under the default array it makes no real difference anyway 16 vs 17. Rolled stats it matters a bit more.
