According to the rules about Wild Shape, a Druid who changes into a creature, uses that creature's HD. As the Druid levels up, do the creatures' stats scale?
My only example is a Druid (15) who Wild Shapes into a Brown bear. Normally the Druid has an average of 78 (15d8) HP, but the Brown Bear has an average 34 (4d10 + 12) HP.
I know it makes sense that a Druid (15) just Wild Shapes into a creature with a CR of 5 instead of 1, but if a charater emphasizes important on that specific beast, does that mean the Druid is severely limiting themselves? |

If I was DM and a player wanted to restrict himself to bears for some sort of RP reason - in other words, the druid ONLY wildshapes into bear forms - I'd probably allow scaling stats. But if the druid transforms into many beast forms and a bear form just happened to be best suited for the current situation, I wouldn't scale stats.
As far as RAW, though, as far as I can tell, stats don't scale. But, again, I could be missing something. |
