Wild sorcerer question

can they have a wild surge when casting spells and cantrips that are from another class?

If you get a spell from magic initiate that is on the sorcerer spell list then they learn that spell and may cast it 1/day for free as a 1st level spell and may cast it through their normal spell slots. At least that is what I recall from a recent article, I could be wrong.
