What do you envision your character doing?

He is a high elf who left his postion as an a sage to go adventure and get magical artafacts and impriove his magical ablitites through experance. I see him doing Enchanting or Transmutatuon .we are going to have a necromancer in the party as well so that means i probably shouldn't do Conjuration and Evocation seems really good but to simple and boring for his taste. Is Transmutation good?

Actually A bard might be a better fit for him now that I think of it

If your still looking at Wizard Divination may suit as well, in terms of looking for things and beign all sagey...also a good tradition mechanicly

True - Divination is great but remember to roll your portent dice. It is a rediculously powerful tool that someone I was playing with just forgot to use.

I like Abjuration as a kind of "Scholarly" wizard school, because it deals a lot with the nuts and bolts of magic (counterspells & dispells & manipulating the weave) which makes it seem like the kind of thing a scholar would favor.

Of the ones you were favoring (Transmutation or Enchantment), I would probably take enchantment. It's a bit more forgiving of mistakes

Don't let yourself get overwhelmed by the full breath of each tradition. Just look at the level 2 and 6 abilities of each tradition. Those are the two you will have the longest or possibly the only ones you'll have (knock on wood).
