Jul 04, 2004 9:54:32 Does the 1e Legends and Lore (the one with Odin on the cover) have the Babylonian and Summarian pantheons or was that just the old Deities and Demigods books?

Jul 04, 2004 10:09:15 The contents of Legends and Lore were identical to the 15-pantheon version of Deities & Demigods. It contains both the pantheons you mention .

The 2e L&L omitted the Finnish Pantheon, 1e L&L has all the 15 from Deities & Demigods 3rd print and onwards.

Well I started with 2e and resolved not to sell the core 2e books (in my case that's PHB, DMG, MM, LL, ToM).
I came too late in contact with AD&D for 1e, and it took quite a while to find all the 1e hardcovers, but I'm almost complete now due to a recent acquisition of PHB and UA.
I'm still short of a D&DG with the complete 17 Pantheons and the Fiend Folio, which shouldn't take too long these days, with ebay as the perfect tool.

Jul 07, 2004 15:09:43 I remeber that cover with Odin on it. It was great, with the clouds the wolves and his horse and ravens. Is there a poster out there of it?

2e Legends and Lore has the Erehwon (Fafhrd and the Grey Mouser) pantheon.

Only the first couple of printings had that though, as it was removed due to copyright issues. TSR had recieved permission to use it if they put in a statement that it was being used by permission from the group who had the lisence for Cthulhu, but TSR decided it didn't want to run a competitor's name in their books and so Cthulu was removed from D&DG after the 2nd print. Moorcock's Melnibonean mythos had also been included in the first two printings, but was removed for the same reasons.

I believe you are refering here to the Newhon mythos of Fritz Leiber. This pantheon appears in the 1st edition Deities and Demigods as well as the 1e Legends and Lore. It was not exclusive to the 2e version of L&L.
