1st Ed AD&D with the "new" cover art?

I recently acquired the 1st Ed. Player's Handbook and Dungeon Master's Guide, replacing copies which were lost many years ago. They're in fantastic condition, no complaints there-- however, they're early printings with the "original" cover art. The copies I used to have were later printings, with the wizard on the cover of the PHB, and the green-robed keeper on the cover of the DMG.

Next time I search for them, is there a handy way to differentiate between printings? For example, do the later printings have a different ISBN number? Or is there a cut-off date when they stopped using the original cover art?

The acaeum website (an excellent resource in general) has descriptions of the various printings of the first edition rulebooks.

http://www.acaeum.com/ddindexes/setpages/phb.html for example.

That is, indeed, very instructive.
