#1 zombiegleemax Sep 24, 2006 15:23:25	I am slightly confused about 2e specialized wizards and opposition schools. In particular, how does one deal with spells that belong to two different schools? For instance, if I'm playing an abjurer (opposition schools: illusion & alteration), can I use a spell if it is listed as belonging to alteration AND conjuration/summoning (e.g. Leomund's Secret Chest)? I'm inclined to say yes in light of the 5th level spell Avoidance (both abjuration and alteration). Is there a clear answer, though?

It's not exactly clear, but I'd say that your interpretation is correct. This interpretation implies that the spell can be performed as either belong to a school or the other, rather than requiring elements of both.
#3 zombiegleemax Sep 28, 2006 0:38:47	I've always ruled the same. Official precident is contradictory, but there are more examples of spells being used when one of the schools they belong to is barred than otherwise.
