Hey guys,

I apologize in advance if this has been discussed previously, but I had a couple of questions regarding length of time to learn nonweapon proficiencies when gaining additional experience levels.
1. Is there a rule in print that details how long it takes for a character to learn the prof?
2. Do any of you have a better or more creative rule if there is not (or even if there is) a rule in print?

Thank you in advance !!!!

Not that I know of.

I'd use an intelligence check for each NWP gained, and let that be that. As for how long it should take, it depends on how realistic you want to get or how abstract. If you prefer realistic, try 20 minutes minus 1 minute per point of intelligence per NWP gained. If you prefer abstract, no timed checks. Just give the NWPs to them, and get on with the game.

I have read in more than one module and book when level advancement is discussed is during the week of training for the next level under your tutor you would learn the new NWP if you have one coming.

However long it seems reasonable, I'd say.

The proficiencies are so disparate that a blanket rule wouldnt be reasonable.
Usually, I just assume that during the downtime, when you level up, you acquire any skills naturally.

I do the same as weasel fierce. I build in enough downtime to the campaign so that when they are due a NWP they can just take one. Proviso: in some cases they might need to justify how they acquired it (met someone that could train them, spent time in appropriate conditions etc)
