The descriptions from the SRD for each item listed seem to indicate that a spell triggered from an item is treates as though the user is the spellcaster. Is this a valid interpretation? What about the items for which that wording is not present (specifically for magic items, Staves and Wands, and for Psionic items, Dorjes, Power Stones, and Psicrowns)? In my game i rule that only spell cast can affect the animal compagnon. If the rule would intend otherwise they would say so. Try to have fun in your game & sorry for my second language writting

I am appending each piece of text that is causing issue for my group: At the druid’s option, she may have any spell (but not any spell-like ability) she casts upon herself also affect her animal companion. I don't see anything here saying that the druid/wizard can't do both his companion and familiar. It says in druid description that he can share spell with companion, and in wizard description that he can share spell with his familiar, anything else IMHO is a house rule. Potions are like spells cast upon the imbiber. The character taking the potion doesn’t get to make any decisions about the effect —the caster who brewed the potion has already done so. The drinker of a potion is both the effective target and the caster of the effect (though the potion indicates the caster level, the drinker still controls the effect). The druid can share spell at his option, and the potion definition says the character taking the potion doesn’t get to make any decisions about the effect, so I would say no. About the other question, sorry but I'll leave the psion to people who know what they are talking about. Sorry about reviving a two months old post, but I was about to ask some similar question, and this was of interest to me. Why would you say no to using share spell to both the companion and the familiar? Is there an errata I missed?
