| #2vrykolas2kSep 19, 2007 21:43:48 | I still play AD&D, my question is......does anyone else? Yes... |
| #3tankschmidtSep 20, 2007 7:40:37 | I currently play C&C, but for that game I can still use all my AD&D stuff. And I'd be happy to join an AD&D game if the opportunity presented itself. |
| #4extempusSep 20, 2007 18:42:48 | Yep, since 1981... |
| #5ozbirthrightfanSep 20, 2007 20:11:19 | 2nd Edition AD&D, but 'Yes' is my answer |
| #6realmasterSep 21, 2007 0:11:20 | yup, best edition. |
| #7sandeepbnysSep 21, 2007 12:18:59 | yep, in fact, i'm looking to add players to my mesa, AZ group. Anyone know of resources for finding players for older editions? |
| #8tankschmidtSep 21, 2007 13:17:54 | yep, in fact, i'm looking to add players to my mesa, AZ group. Anyone know of resources for finding players for older editions? This is the first place to go: http://www.dragonsfoot.org/forums/viewforum.php?f=44&sid=b232242cf767e11df789eb3d00beb84f Good luck finding some players! |
| #9zombiegleemaxSep 26, 2007 11:20:00 | The 2 different groups that I gave with have ALL refused to go to anything higher than 2nd edition. We usually place 2nd, but we will sometimes allow 1st edition characters, (monks, etc). |
| #10shadzarSep 27, 2007 7:43:55 | This is the first place to go: http://www.dragonsfoot.org/forums/viewforum.php?f=44&sid=b232242cf767e11df789eb3d00beb84f however that is for 1E AD&D only, and people dont really need your cookie string data with the link.... http://www.dragonsfoot.org/forums/viewforum.php?f=44 or better yet just http://www.dragonsfoot.org/forums . sadly you have to deal with UK attitudes and moderator and admin laziness. ![]() |
| #11tagnosticSep 27, 2007 21:46:42 | 2nd Edition AD&D, but 'Yes' is my answer Ditto's, I started with the Blue book but stuck with 2nd edition. |
| #12rubermavorsOct 02, 2007 14:04:20 | of course, what else is there |
| #13mojo_ratOct 02, 2007 19:36:40 | I went to a party the other night and there were a group and a half of gamers therebesides other people at the party. Strangely enough they all played AD&D one group had a campaign tha thad been going on for 2 years and people from toe other group were well familiar with it. It surprised me since it seemed to be well dominant over the modern game. But many of the people i was talking to were 40+ so that probly accounted for it. |
| #14fernsOct 03, 2007 10:10:50 | I play and dm ad&d 2nd ed and have done in 15 years or so. HAIL TO AD&D!! |
| #15caeruleusOct 03, 2007 11:40:25 | I play 3.5 right now, but last year I started playing a 1e campaign. Unfortunately, it didn't last very long. Not because we didn't like AD&D, but the group broke apart for other reasons.sadly you have to deal with UK attitudes and moderator and admin laziness. What's a "UK attitude"? |
| #16zombiegleemaxOct 03, 2007 20:19:11 | I just started running a AD&D 1E Temple of Elemental Evil campaign (modified for my homebrew setting. I am so glad I decided to do so after burning out on 3.5 (again) at the beginning of the summer (one of the other players ran Rolemaster -- god I love old school games). It is easier to DM, it gives me back my authority as a DM and you can actually play a 3 or 4 hour session and get something accomplished instead of slogging your way through 1 or 2 fights, arguing about AoOs and 5 foot steps. |
| #17varlOct 05, 2007 14:16:36 | I've been playing AD&D since the beginning of ti...oh wait. That's not right. Oh yeah. I've been playing AD&D since 1980, or as new gamers today say, since the beginning of time. :D I heard on the news the other day that some guy wants his lifelong fishing buddies to chop him up when he dies (terminal cancer) and use him as fish bait. And I thought my idea of placing miniatures and gaming supplies on my coffin was radical... ![]() ![]() |
| #18zombiegleemaxOct 05, 2007 17:32:39 | Reporting for duty |
| #19sir_palstinOct 05, 2007 20:55:06 | Have played since 1983. Currently starting a new 2e campaign set in the Realms. None of us have played anything newer than AD&D 2nd Ed. and have no desire to switch now. |
| #20franciscaOct 12, 2007 8:09:38 | Oh yeah, running a classic 1e AD&D Greyhawk game. Lots of us still out there, more than wizards would like, I imagine. |
| #21havardOct 12, 2007 13:41:50 | What's a "UK attitude"? Sophistication? Stiff Upper Lip? A tendency to put "u" into words like Armor and color? Somehow I dont think the OP was referring to any of these... :D Havard |
| #22handsome_strangerOct 12, 2007 21:10:06 | It's a shame no version of Dungeons and Dragons is currently being published, but it sure as heck gets played around here. |
| #23caeruleusOct 13, 2007 12:33:03 | A tendency to put "u" into words like Armor and color? Well, that's certainly common to all people from the UK, so that must be it! |
| #24ShiftkittyOct 15, 2007 14:54:33 | When gamers ask what version of D&D I play I just say 'yes'. I've found things from all versions that I like and employ. We play by the 3e set, but it swings with the feel of the 2e. My players don't care as long as the adventure is good. I've had to buy a few 2e books, though, because the wizard's player prefers the organization of the data. |
| #25snake_doctorOct 27, 2007 14:18:49 | Hello All. Just joined the other day and this is my first post, I have been playing D&D (all version way back to when you could buy the whole game in a box, and elves and dwarfs were a class). I started playing D&D in 1981 and have played every version up to and including 3.5... Now my problem is finding players. I'm not sure if there is a better place to post this if so please let me know. We have a small group now (3 players) all the others have dropped out. We are an older group 36+ and are looking for players in Minneapolis MN area. We are all in the NW suburbs. We are looking at starting up a new campain and are looking for player to get together once every 2-3 weeks or so, any interest? |
| #26gleepwurpOct 29, 2007 9:50:26 | Hello Snake Doctor; Wish I lived closer... You could try posting here in the wizards gamer classifieds: http://forums.gleemax.com/forumdisplay.php?f=347 They allow you to sort by general region of the US and you title your location with your state and town so the ads sort alphabetically to make people in your area easier to find. I'd be sure to specify what version of the game you want to play and be prepared to get a lot of mail from people sayin, "why don't you want to play 3.5?" if you say you want to use the older game rules. good luck. |
| #27mojo_ratOct 29, 2007 18:57:48 | Hello All. If you do I would recomend asking to put an add up. |
| #283man20Oct 30, 2007 13:48:00 | yes, and starting a whole new campaign in 2nd edition |
| #29blodgettOct 31, 2007 10:44:33 | In one group ... yes. They refuse to play anything else. (We just started the Bloodstone modules as a matter of fact.) The other group ... no. We don't even play D&D there any more (sorry bit of burn out there ). |
| #30OxlarNov 01, 2007 6:43:36 | My group of eight meets every monday night. 2nd ed AD&D/homebrew is what we play. Its really too bad 3rd was too far of a departure from 2nd. The resource materials are hardly useable now. Its a shame, cause they could have kept a lot of customers if it was just a bit more compatible. My group has a couple people that play friday nights in a 3rd ed game, but they are constantly complaining about it. |
| #31varlNov 04, 2007 13:24:14 | I keep telling myself the same thing. Even if they have no interest in supporting past editions (which they never have), it's never made much business sense to me to completely cut off an entire demographic of gamers just because you want to release a new edition. At worst, you give them one and only one product on our way out the door: a conversion guide, in the hopes that they'll pick up some new material and convert it back to their game of choice. Not even that small token of years of product dedication was given, and now d20 fans get to experience it. ![]() |
| #32WSmithNov 05, 2007 9:26:07 | I am a big fan of AD&D (1st edition) but recently have become a fan of the 1974 version of the game, and plan on playing a marathon game sometime in January. |
| #33vendarNov 05, 2007 11:11:33 | I play at least once a week. We are not dead yet.;) |
| #34odhananNov 21, 2007 19:33:47 | Yes. I still play OD&D(1974), Classic D&D/Mentzer rules and 1st Ed AD&D. ![]() |
