Jun 12, 2004 23:05:06 Does any one know of any Computer Software for 1st Edition gaming? I found a great software package called DM Genie but it only sorks for v3.5.

I'm looking for something similar for 1st edition, any information would be helpful.

Jun 13, 2004 0:26:23 The software you're looking for is called The Dungeon Master's Assistant, vols. I & II. It was published by SSI back in the 80's. It's DOS based but runs just fine in every MS-OS I've tried it on: all DOS's from 3.3 to 6.22, Win3.11, Win NT3.51, WinNT4.0 Win95 (all releases), Win'98 & '98SE, WinME, Win2000, WinXP.

The only thing you'll find problematic is printing from the apps.

Jun 13, 2004 16:57:58 2ed had the "Dungeons & Dragons Core Rules CD" and its expansion CD. Both were very good. You should be able to use them with 1st ed just fine, and they may be easier to get since they are newer.

"Should be" but "isn't". Take a peek on eBay for what that thing goes for. Furthermore it will munge up 1e things, and a lot of reverse-engineering will have to be taken in to hand to fix things (class/level limits, etc.)
