Better than reprints--reprints with commentary

I didn't want to clutter the petition thread with this, but I think there's one way WotC could improve the value of reprints of earlier editions: Add commentary. Like they do with movies on DVD these days.

Imagine the original three little books or the 1e AD&D books with added commentary by Gygax.

Or the 2e core books with commentary by Zeb.

Unfortunately, Gygax may not be willing to take on such a task anymore, with his health issues having slowed him down & a lot of work for the LA & C&C systems that he still wants to accomplish.

So, maybe get commentary from some of the other old-timers: Mike Mornard, Rob Kuntz, Dave Arneson, &c.

Anyway, just a thought on the chance WotC takes the petition seriously.

P.S. I recently acquired Law Shick's book Heroic Worlds. I wanted it mainly for the history, but an unexpected surprise were a bunch of essays by some of the hobby's biggest luminaries. Those may be my favorite part of the book.
