Jun 10, 2007 16:55:59 Im new and I went to a bookstore where I found a binder monstrous Compendium Voulume one
2nd edition and iIwas wondering where I could find out more on it and where to find the rest of the pages ? And wher I could find Voulumes 2 & 3

Jun 11, 2007 0:42:07 Volume 2 is the second half of the core compendium. The others are world specific, about a dozen of them.

The compendiums are floating around various sites, but the Monstrous Manual (basically the first two compendiums and a few select creatures from some later ones all rolled into one hardcover book) is much easier to find (and carry).

Jun 11, 2007 5:51:22 I didn't like the binder. Interesting concept, but anyone who's been to school knows what happens to paper when it's in a binder.

That's why I laminated volumes 1 and 2. Each and every page.

The thing is three times as thick as it was when I had started, and much heavier. But it's now "Pizza-Proof".

Jun 11, 2007 10:57:24 Thanks! nah I kinda liked the whole binder set. I mean sure they were big and bulky but so are the ataris for what they had in them. I dont know I like the old and Vintage. But I was hoping to find the rest. And you said that they put them into book like all the binder into one book or are there like 12 differant books as well?

Jun 11, 2007 14:05:48 There were several seperate volumes printed for binder use. (I don't know about a dozen, but maybe). After volume 2, they tended to be fewer monsters per volume. The monsters tended to be more bizarre as well.

That being said, I liked the binder concept. I copied all of the sheets to card stock to make them more durable. I found it handy to be able to remove the needed pages from the monster binder and place in my DM binder. With experienced players, nothing was worse than to have players stumped until they look over and see you turn to the back of Monster Manual and guess they are facing a Vampire and not something else.

Jun 11, 2007 17:46:07 Vols 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 8, 10, 14 are available together on ebay. You can get the them as pdf scans for 5 bucks a piece as well.
