| #1wotc_andrew_finchJun 07, 2004 12:35:14 | Complete Divine Clarifications With your help, David Noonan and I have identified some rules that we feel need to be adjusted in Complete Divine. Although it is too early to release official errata for this book, please consider these changes official: pg. 11; Table 1-3: The Shugenja Class Spells per Day Level 8th 9th 14th - - 15th - - 16th 3 - 17th 4 - 18th 5 3 19th 6 4 20th 6 6 pg. 80; Divine Metamagic feat Prerequisites: Ability to turn undead or rebuke undead, selected metamagic feat. When you take this feat, choose a metamagic feat you already have. This feat applies only to that metamagic feat. As a free action, you can take the energy from turning or rebuking undead and use it to apply a metamagic feat to divine spells that you know. ... Special: Each time you take this feat, choose a different metamagic feat you know to which to apply it. pg. 168-169: Miasma Saving Throw: Fortitude negates (and see text) The subject cannot speak. Conversation is impossible, spells with verbal components cannot be cast, bardic music cannot be performed, and no noises other than coughing and spitting are possible. General Notes Concerning Errata: In general, if a mechanic works as printed, we don’t change it, even if it doesn't exactly work as the designers and developers intended. However, we feel that the spell miasma as printed in Complete Divine may detract from players' enjoyment of the game and therefore needs further adjustment. We are sorry for any confusion these errors may have caused you in the use of this product, and we hope that these clarifications will help you enjoy the Complete Divine in your gaming group more. We are aware of other errata issues. As with all our products, formal errata will be issued as soon as we have time to compile it. The official errata for the Complete Divine will include the information presented above. __________________ Andrew J. Finch Development Manager RPG R&D/Miniatures R&D Wizards of the Coast |
| #2welt_dupJun 07, 2004 12:44:42 | Thanks, Andrew. This isn't much, considering the amount of errata CD needs, but it certainly is appreciated. About the shugenja's spells per day, though, shouldn't they get 6 9th level spells per day at 20th level? This would match the Oriental Adventures shugenja spells per day list (from which the CD version was taken whole cloth) and would also bring it in line with the sorcerer's spells per day. Just wondering... |
| #3count_arioch_the_28thJun 08, 2004 17:11:13 | And thus ends the Great Miasma debate. And it ended so quickly. ![]() |
| #4zombiegleemaxJun 08, 2004 21:02:27 | Hi, Those clarifications are very nice indeed ![]() May I ask if Cometfall (page 159) should really do 2d6 damage per 10ft it falls, or should it be 1d6 to make the whole spell conform nicely with the general falling object rules? |
| #5zombiegleemaxJun 09, 2004 0:11:18 | THANK YOU FOR CLARIFYING WHAT MIASMA ALLOWS YOU TO DO. It's what I've been waiting for for a long time. |
| #6wdarkkJun 09, 2004 0:24:52 | Yeah, also that would bring it sort of in line with the whole "damage cap" thing. Is it supposed to cap at 20d6 like other forms of falling damage? |
| #7zombiegleemaxJun 09, 2004 3:34:29 | *groan* not again with the damage caps... Thanks, Andrew! The fast appearance of these erratta is appreciated. ![]() |
| #8zombiegleemaxJun 09, 2004 7:37:01 | Originally posted by Andrew Finch Thank you so much! ![]() But I have one more question: can Divine Metamagic feat be used with arcane spells? For example, if I am a 19sor/1clr, can I take this feat to apply to my sorcerer spells? Because being a sorcerer, I would have very hign Cha and a lot of turn attempts! I know it's kinda power-gaming, but I have to know the answer... in case my fellow players try to use it! ![]() |
| #9outsider_subtypeJun 09, 2004 9:23:39 | Osieu, what part of "apply a metamagic feat to divine spells" is unclear to you? |
| #10zombiegleemaxJun 09, 2004 10:13:40 | I know this line, but it's not in the spell description...it's in the flavor text. And some people may argue that it's not part of the rule. (Not me!) I just want to have an official answer to keep some fellow of my game from using it with the sorcerer, and to save our time from arguing. ;) |
| #11the_halfling_02Jun 09, 2004 10:19:38 | Os, Actually that is part of the Benefits line, not flavor text. The "Benefits" header was just left off in the post. Flavor Text Prerequisites Benefits Special Hope that helps. :D |
| #12zombiegleemaxJun 09, 2004 10:24:43 | O I see! Thank you all very much! I have no problem now. ![]() |
| #13wcrawfordJun 10, 2004 4:51:48 | How about informing Customer Service of the change. I got this email yesterday.Dear Wayne, Heck, why not get customer service people that actually know the rules? I have countless emails of blatantly wrong answers to questions, not answering the question asked, or conflicting answers when multiple people ask the same question. |
| #14zombiegleemaxJun 10, 2004 5:23:15 | Originally posted by WCrawford I don't think customer service is there to primarily answer rules questions, more to provide technical help, questions about releases and such. Rules questions can and should be asked on the boards, but if you really want to ask customer service, you know what you're getting yourself into. |
| #15wcrawfordJun 10, 2004 6:04:44 | Originally posted by Mr.Waesel But they are there to answer rules questions, so it should be expected that we get true customer support and correct, non-conflicting answers. From http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=company/feedbackform emphasis is mine |
| #16zombiegleemaxJun 10, 2004 6:20:11 | Oh, right. In that case it's rather stupid, yes. |
| #17PeteZeroJun 10, 2004 16:39:26 | So for Divine Metamagic, if I am a human 1 st lvl cleric and have quicken spell as well as divine mnetamagic (quicken spell), can I cast my divine favor and magic weapon in one round? Or do the rules apply, that I must be able to cast a regular quickend divine favor even with the feat divine metamagic - a 5th level spell slot, meaning I can only use the feat at lvl 9? |
| #18zombiegleemaxJun 11, 2004 2:09:30 | Periac, I'm not sure where you got the idea that a cleric would need to be 9th level to cast a quickened divine favor with Divine Metamagic. It's true that he would have to be 9th level if he wanted to prepare the spell ahead of time in a 5th level slot. But Divine Metamagic lets you spend turning attempts to avoid having to do that. However, since a cleric has to spend five turning attempts to apply Quicken Spell to divine favor when using Divine Metamagic, that 1st level cleric would need a Charisma score of at least 14. And even then, since he would not have any feat slots available for Extra Turning, he wouldn't be able to turn undead anymore for the rest of the day. |
| #19zombiegleemaxJun 11, 2004 11:47:40 | What does the PrC Stormlord gain at lvl 10? It says Elemental Conflagration but in the description it says it gains a new spell called Storm of Elemental Fury. There is no description on what Elemental Conflagration, so does it get a spell or some ability which was forgotten to be described or both? |
| #20zombiegleemaxJun 11, 2004 14:18:23 | New spell: Embrace the Wild. I see it listed on the Ranger 3rd-level spell list with the text: "You gain skills and senses of chosen animal." It's entry is missing later under spell descriptions. I'd like to get the info on the spell please. Gracias. |
| #21Chiba_MonkeyJun 14, 2004 14:21:13 | Umm, I hope I'm not the only one worried about the shugenja here, I have an Oriental campaign setting in my world, and shugenjas are a big part of it. *Side note: Thanks Andy for the clarifications* Going through the shugenja spell list, NONE of the new spells have it listed in their description that they are shugenja spells. That bothers me less than the missing 6th level shugenja spell master of the rolling river After some searching, I found that the spell name was changed to Tidal Surge. The change was made to the druid list, but not the shugenja one (Probably, because the spell description did not mention that it was a shugenja spell). The spell descriptions are exactly the same, so I assume that's what happened. secretmantra - I thought something similar might have happened to Embrace the Wild but I can't find it anywhere. Except to note that it is also supposed to be a level 3 Druid spell as well. ric, I have your answer. In Faiths and Pantheons, the 3.0 Forgotten Realms book, is where the Stormlord PrC appears first. The CD was clearly meant to update it to 3.5. It seems that they copy/pasted most of the info (although comparing them, there are several changes). The description of Elemental Conflagration from F&P reads that it works like summon monster IX, except that it summons 4 Huge elementals, one of each type. Personally, having read the description of Storm of Elemental Fury, I like it a lot better, it fits more with the flavor of the class. But in case you liked the elemental conflagration more, there you have it. |
| #22selrahcparrJun 16, 2004 9:05:56 | With the feat "Augment Healing" from Complete Divine, it says that all Conjuration [Healing] spells get +2 per spell level. This is fine for normal healing spells, but what about the Vigor spells? I do realize that they are Conjuration [Healing] spells, and that they should benefit from this feat, but I think the player getting back 3hp a round for 10 rounds plus caster level is a little over powered for a simple feat combined with a first level spell (Lesser Vigor). Should it be an initial burst of extra healing at the begining of the spell and then have it go back to how the spell normally works, or what? Because going by the first way I stated that it works, get redicully overpowered when you get to the 6th level spell Mass Vigor, when the players would get back 15-16 hp's a round (sorry, can't remember if the spell normally gives 2 or 3 hp's a round). See what I mean about it geting over powered though? Any answers people have would be appreciated, official or otherwise. Thanks. |
| #23shadow_blade_02Jun 17, 2004 10:38:00 | Originally posted by SelrahcParr IMO it's quite simple. Augment Healing says that it adds +2 per spell level to the amount of damage healed by the spell. The Vigor spells don't heal. They give Fast Healing. Thus the spell doesn't heal IMO. |
| #24shadow_blade_02Jun 17, 2004 10:55:06 | What I'm interested in knowing is on what levels the PrC Sacred Fist doesn't gain Spells per Day/Spells Known. Table 2-18 shows that the Sacred Fist doesn't gain Spells per Day/Spells Known on levels 4 and 8, but the clarifying text says that you gain Spells per Day/Spells Known at every level. Which one of the two is the right one? |
| #25yonmanJun 17, 2004 15:40:51 | Poison Vines spell indicates that is the same as the "vine Mine" spell, but this spell is not listed in the spell text or index. |

| #31cmdrkrullJun 21, 2004 21:55:19 | Are you allowed to use the extra turning attempts that these domains provide for using the feat divine metamagic????? |
| #32zombiegleemaxJun 22, 2004 0:08:42 | Divine Metamagic requires the ability to turn or rebuke undead. That rules out the Fire, Air, Earth, and Water domain abilities. |
| #33ZaruthustranJun 23, 2004 2:27:11 | Originally posted by Andrew Finch Wait... so if my elf cleric takes Extra Turning at first level, then Silent Spell at third level, Divine Metamagic at sixth level (for Silent Spell), and then Still spell at ninth level... he'll have to take Divine Metamagic again at 12th level?! That's... extreme. That's blowing 5 feats for 2 abilities: the ability to change a handful of spells into Silent, Still spells at a cost of 4 turning attempts per change. Wow. I thought the requirement that it only works on already-known metamagic was too much. But having Divine Metamagic work on only *one*, already-known metamagic feat is overkill. Especially considering how a character pretty much needs to take Extra Turning in order to have any chance of getting more than a handful of uses out of the feat. -z |
| #34zombiegleemaxJun 23, 2004 15:18:52 | Originally posted by Shadow Blade I love the feat Augment Healing - (it helps that I'm playing a medicinal goat). One question: The feat adds +2 per spell level to the amount of damage healed by the spell. If you apply a metamagic feat to the spell, say Empower Spell, does the +2 get added before or after the feat is applied? Example: I'm an 8th level cleric with Empower Spell and I memorize an Empowered Cure Moderate Wounds in one of my 4th level spell slots. When cast, will the spell: Heal [2d8 + 8 (caster level) + 4 (Augmented 2nd level spell)] * 1.5 (Empower Spell) = 13.5 (2d8*1.5) + 18 (12*1.5) = 31.5 average OR Heal [2d8 + 8 (caster level)] * 1.5 (Empower Spell) + 4 (Augmented 2nd level spell) = 13.5 (2d8*1.5) + 12 (8*1.5) + 4 = 29.5 average The difference for Empowering a 2nd level spell isn't that drastic: 2 hit points. The swing in hit points healed for a 4th level spell (an Empowered Cure Crit) is around 12 hit points. Thoughts? Thanks! |
| #35elindredJun 24, 2004 1:27:41 | [edit]nevermind, sorry[/edit] |
| #36elindredJun 24, 2004 1:58:22 | Originally posted by Zaruthustran actually, that's 5 feats for -4- abilities; the metamagic feats themsleves provide abilities too you know. i don't see anything wrong with the feat cost or the turning attempts cost. if you want to be able to spontaneously apply any (number of) metamagic feat(s) you have to spells, play a favoured soul. else, be prepared to take the feat again for each feat you wish to do spontaneously (and at no spell slot cost to boot). i think that's fair. at the cost of one feat, i think allowing you to casually apply multiple metamagic feats to a spell with no spell slot increase would be a tad powerful. |
| #37elindredJun 24, 2004 2:01:29 | Originally posted by Kyndig i'm pretty sure that the base spell level wouldn't be modified by the empower feat for the purposes of augment healing, just like you can counter an enhanced fireball with a normal fireball; despite their different spell slots, they're still spells of the same level. |
| #38zombiegleemaxJun 24, 2004 14:56:05 | Originally posted by elindred Correct. The base spell level isn't modifed with the feat Empower spell - only the spell slot required to memorize the spell is affected. Heighten Spell (Is that the name of it?) is the only spell that actually changes the spell level. To clarify my question: Does the +2 from Augmented Healing get Empowered? Or is that bonus applied after the feat is applied? |
| #39elindredJun 24, 2004 23:25:13 | Originally posted by Kyndig ah, i see what you mean. well, since empower also multiplies fixed modifiers from caster level, i could see how, in the same spirit, empower would multiply the fixed modifier from augmented healing, imho. it's also a bit less complicated math besides. |

| #42elindredJun 29, 2004 23:02:16 | i've two new questions. firstly, something about the shugenja spells known/spell list: the rules state that at lvl 20 at least 5 of their lvl 0 spells known must be from their chosen element, but there are only 4 in the fire and air lists (i'm not sure of the others). what's going on here? also, for practiced spellcaster, if you take the feat do you still cease to gain spells per day at caster level 20 (as per the epic progression rules)? i know the description specifically states it has nothing to do with spells per day, but i just want to be certain that they also mean it for this situation as well. on a side note, is the shugenja spell list intended to be treated as if written in stone? will spell lists in future supplements add new spells to the shugenja spell list and/or would it be ok for my dungeon master to add new spells to the list? or would that be too "powerful" according to intended design? |

| #51zombiegleemaxJul 01, 2004 13:32:10 | I have a question and an answer to the above about what turning attemps can be used for Divine Metamagic. question: if divine metamagic does not alter the level of the spell, than by using divine metamagic to create items, you may make them without altering the level. My DM says otherwise, but can not actually say why. The problem with this is that , especially in my case, it makes the feat absolutly useless if you can not use it other than a normal metamagic feat, so, anyone have any ideas? As for turning attemps being used for divine feats, it does not say anywhere that you can or can not really, but check out the Special under ELemental healing, and I believe the Elemental Smitting feats. . . .? |
| #52zombiegleemaxJul 01, 2004 15:13:04 | Originally posted by Beckett After reading the divine metamagic feat the level of the spell is still increased, you just don't use a higher spell slot to cast it. It doesn't mention a maximum level to change it to though (so it's possible to have a 5th level cleric cast a 6th level spell after metamagic) which might make it a little easier to make some items with. Personally I'd probably only allow this as an experiment and see how powerful it becomes. |
| #53zombiegleemaxJul 02, 2004 14:28:24 | This is where the problem comes in. . . If you say that it is a higher level spell, which the Divine Feat specifically does not allow for it to be, than what level spell is it? The same as if the metamagic feat equivilant is? When you are makeing magic items, the spell level is increased by using metamagic feats, but also the caster level, because the minimum you can set your caster level is, is the minimum to use a spell at that level. For instance, making a wand of Cure Light, 1st lvl spell would be 1 x 1 x (whatever), but making the same wand as a Heightened (to 3rd level spell slot) spell, makes it a 3rd level spell, 3 x 5 x (whatever the price of a normal wand would be). That being said, since the Divine feat does not raise the level of the spell, would also not require a high level caster. This also means that the Base Price is less for both selling and making the item. |
| #54zombiegleemaxJul 02, 2004 15:00:19 | you your aware that while most metamagic makes them use a higher slot, but does not make them that level of a spell for peroses of DC...thats what Highten does |
| #55elindredJul 02, 2004 20:48:36 | from the SRD section on crafting scrolls:The creator must have prepared the spell to be scribed (or must know the spell, in the case of a sorcerer or bard) so, you can only craft magic items using spells you can prepare. |
| #56zombiegleemaxJul 09, 2004 14:23:29 | Augment healing adds +2 to all healed damage in Conjuration(Healing) spells, right? We were doing a close reading, and noticed that Lesser Restoration is a C(Healing) spell that heals (ability) damage. Now, is the addition of ability enough to mean that this spell is not augmented? Or are we talking about a second level spell that now heals 1d4+4 in ability damage? I can't think of a good reason not to allow it, since it won't come up often, but will be very helpful when it does. Thoughts? |
| #57eindrachenJul 10, 2004 1:24:26 | Originally posted by elindred I recall that either OA or Rokugan addressed this by saying something to the effect that All spells could be selected in place of one's favored element. That seems at least somewhat reasonable; anything else would require extra spells to be added to the lists. on a side note, is the shugenja spell list intended to be treated as if written in stone? will spell lists in future supplements add new spells to the shugenja spell list and/or would it be ok for my dungeon master to add new spells to the list? or would that be too "powerful" according to intended design? I highly doubt that future supplements will append the Shugenja list. The lack of development of OA stuff by WotC, and the fact that AEG keeps churning out v3.0 stuff (and which is almost always buggy to some degree or other) means that your hopes for such things are in vain. Sad, but that's the way things be. Now, if you'll excuse me, I have to get back to rewriting the entire Legend of the Five Rings d20 rules... |
| #58zombiegleemaxJul 10, 2004 1:49:51 | Augment healing adds +2 to all healed damage in Conjuration(Healing) spells, right? We were doing a close reading, and noticed that Lesser Restoration is a C(Healing) spell that heals (ability) damage. I can't see how the feat Augment Healing would apply to the ability damage healed by Lesser Restoration. If it did heal 1d4+4, it would be healing more than a Maximized Lesser Restoration, all for one feat that applies to other spells, and it wouldn't even be changing the effective spell level required to cast it. Granted, the feat DOES specifically say that it applies to all Conjuration (Healing) spells. So I totally see your point. My DM ruled that Augment Healing only applied to healing damage and not ability damage. |
| #59zombiegleemaxJul 12, 2004 5:27:17 | okay I have an Inquisitor character before CD. it had standard save progression for a cleric (good fort & will. weak Ref), now I see this no longer applies..is this a typo or did they really remove the good Fort save? why did they remove it? it is the standard save progression for clerics and the inquisitor has already lost turning... |
| #60tweedledopeJul 12, 2004 21:36:49 | Could someone clear up the ability that a 10th level Stormlord gets? My Complete Divine says in text that he gets Summon Storm of Vengence however, in his table it says that he gets Elemental Conflaguration. I'm confused, which does he get and if he is supposed to get Elemental Coflagration what does it do? I was wondering if that somehow turned him into an elemental. Anyways, I just want to know what it does! Thanks! -=Tweedledope=- |
| #61ZherogJul 12, 2004 21:39:43 | The general rule of thumb is text takes precedence over tables. My guess would be that the two abilities are the same, just different names. I'd go with what is in the text - since you know what it does. ;) |
| #62zombiegleemaxJul 16, 2004 15:08:20 | Some clarification on the Cometfall spell would definately be appreciated. As it stands right now, a 20th level cleric can do more damage with this unaugmented spell than 20th level sorceror can do with any of his unaugmented spells (yes, metamagic allows him to surpass this... but then, metamagic allows me to pump this thing up like mad as well). The issue is virtually moot indoors, however for outdoors encounters this thing ignores the cleric level 6 damage cap completely (normally 15d6). And yes, I am aware that the small area of effect is another mitigating factor. But the issue has been raised in my group, and as both a DM and a player, I can see that this could use some looking into, though I personally have no idea what the best answer is. |
| #63zombiegleemaxJul 16, 2004 17:37:53 | My most sincere THANKS for posting this Errata Andrew, specially the point regarding the (in)famous Miasma Spell. You just don´t know how true that phrase you said "may detract from players' enjoyment of the game" is...my Group have had really hard arguments regarding this spell. The truth is that the Complete Divine has serious edition mistakes. But at least the critical ones are being solved with this Official Errata. Please, tell the WotC Editors to be more careful in the future. Kind regards: Franco Merea DnD player for the past 20 years Lima - Peru (South America) |
| #64elindredJul 16, 2004 19:12:35 | Originally posted by RaptorMax hmm, that is kindof disturbing. it's effectively 1d6 dmg for caster level, uncapped, as long as you're outdoors... great for smashing Mr.BBEG if he's outdoors. at least his damage reduction will help... wait a minute, isn't falling damage capped at 20d6 anyway? |
| #65zombiegleemaxJul 17, 2004 23:02:07 | Originally posted by elindred One would think so, but it dosent state this in the spell at any point, and seeing as this is a magical effect... it is a bit thorny. House rules will definately be required. |

| #68zombiegleemaxJul 20, 2004 9:05:18 | While it doesn't say specifically, it does say that it is similar to the charm monster spell, which has a duration of one day/level, although i'm not sure what to use as a caster level. |

| #72fatal_errorJul 21, 2004 22:15:13 | Does a favored soul have to spend a full round to cast a spell that has had metamagic applied to it? Because he casts spontaniously (sp) it seems he should, however the shugenja has a paragraph saying that he must, so I was thinking perhaps the favored soul does not. |
| #73elindredJul 21, 2004 22:26:09 | well, i think it's safe to assume that the omission can be chalked up to bad proofreading/editing and that the favoured soul suffers from the same metamagic penalties that are part 'n parcel of spontaneous casting. at least, until a ruling that states otherwise comes out. |
| #74fatal_errorJul 21, 2004 23:10:09 | I see, that is the conclusion I came to as well though because I was considering playing one I was hoping for it not to be so. Anyway, I have another question: Visage of the Deity or some spell along those lines. Anyway it says you gain different benefits depending on if you are good or evil, but what about neutral clerics? It has the good and evil descriptors but neutral is opposed to neither so it IS castable by a neutral cleric. |
| #75zombiegleemaxJul 22, 2004 13:07:13 | As a general rule, neutral clerics use the effect appropriate to their turning pursuasion, that is, if they turn undead, they use the good effect, if they rebuke, they use the evil. |
| #76zombiegleemaxJul 22, 2004 15:42:32 | Is Shugenja BAB ok ? It seams that it should grant second attack at +6 to +10 but it isn't there ! Seams like omission found in Soul Knife … |
| #77elindredJul 22, 2004 21:54:56 | Originally posted by Count Arioch the 28th well, it ought to be. terminal velocity and all. |
| #78wdarkkJul 22, 2004 22:11:40 | I interpreted that section a different way, that damage based on distance fallen (for having something land on you or landing on something yourself) was capped, but damage based on the _weight_ of something falling on you was not. |
| #79zombiegleemaxJul 22, 2004 23:41:38 | Originally posted by Beckett I disagree. Chapter Three's introduction has a Divine Feats section, which states that the force that powers a divine feat is the ability to channel positive or negative energy to turn or rebuke undead. But as you pointed out, there are feats that let you use turn/rebuke attempts from the elemental domains, but they all have "turn/rebuke elementals" rather than "turn/rebuke undead" as a prerequisite. |
| #80zombiegleemaxJul 23, 2004 10:14:31 | Originally posted by piotrek As a general rule, if that's missing, it's due to error. The games rules state that if you still have a positive base attack bonus after subtracting 5 from it, you get a second attack. So if you don't see that reflected on a class table, it's because someone editing at Wizard's screwed up |
| #81zombiegleemaxJul 23, 2004 11:35:51 | the DMG covers falling objects on page 303. objects do damage based on weight (and subsequent distance fallen) to a max of 20d6. I am not sure if this affects cometfall, I think the DMG rules are for free falling objects. Also, the spell has a different mechanic for damage all together. But based on spell level damage caps and the rules for falling objects, a 20d6 cap seems reasonable. |
| #82pentagonal_penguin_dupJul 23, 2004 20:15:13 | Prestige classes never show iterative attacks on the Class features tables, as this could cause confusion when you add your BAB from several classes. Add your BAB from all classes, and then calculate iterative attacks normally |
| #83mindshredJul 24, 2004 13:43:34 | Additional errata, possibly: Serpent's Venom: No duration losted, I assume 1 hour as per Grizzly's Claws. Spell Focus (Chaos, Evil, Good, or Law): No feat type (ie, General) listed :D Also worded strangely; until i hit the Special line, i though it applied for both the moral and ethical axises. Holy Strike: Which creatures are vulnerable to blessed weapons? only the rakshasha comes to mind, and that has been changed in 3.5. Not really an erratta on this one so much as confusion ![]() Magical Beast Wild Shape: Has Beast Wild Shape as a prerequisite. I'll edit in any more i run across. |
| #84zombiegleemaxJul 25, 2004 12:24:20 | Reading some of the editors original responses right after release I thought they might actually do this one with some haste . Another thread got me thinking again about the evangelist, and I'm still wondering how this class is supposed to work. - is gather info not supposed to be a class skill even though it is a prereq for this PrC? - what is the duration of oratories? concentration + 3 rounds? - do bardic music feats such as lingering song and requiem work on them ? - exactly how do bardic and evangelist levels stack for bard music? clearly, inspire competence is not effected despite what the text says, but what about the bonuses to things like inspire courage, the number of allies effected by inspire greatness, or the DC of suggestions? I assume they do stack as far as number usable per day although the example seems to ignore this (it also has inspire courage at only +1). - with inflame the righteous can you choose warm or chill fire shield? it matters for the resistance part even though the damage is all divine. - is convert the unfaithful mind affecting? language dependent? what is the caster level? |

| #86zombiegleemaxJul 30, 2004 3:56:47 | I have a question regarding the Gauntlet of the Talon relic from the CD book. Does its effects stack with those of a monk's belt as far as AC AND unarmed damage AND ki strike, or just ki strike only? The wording of "this function stacks with the similar functions of a monk's belt" is a little vague. Thanks. |

| #90zombiegleemaxAug 03, 2004 21:02:56 | In regards to the Gauntlet of the Talon, . . . Despite what it says in the discription, A monk loses all monk abilities they would lose for armor if they wear it, because a guantlet IS ARMOR . Read the discription of a gauntlet in the PH armor section. As with the rest of the book, no one did their homework. |
| #91eric_anondsonAug 08, 2004 23:08:28 | Is it true that the Holy Liberator, as written in Complete Divine, is immune to spells he casts upon himself that are of the [Charm] and [Compulsion] descriptors? I'm specifically talking about the spell heroism specifically, which is an Enchantment [Compulsion] spell in the Holy Liberator's list of 2nd-level spells. I'm NOT asking what a reasonable DM would rule in a home campaign. I'm talking about a strict rules interpretation according to how WotC has written specific things like immunities to work. Why a strict interpretation? Because this is for a character who is in the Living Greyhawk campaign, and the LG campaign is run according to strict readings of the rules... no house-ruling business. Of course, this may get into the aspect of what we already know, that Complete Divine fell short in the editting department. Here is what I have heard about how a strict interpretation is would work with the Holy Liberator casting his own Enchantment [Charm or Compulsion] spells. Because the Aura of Reslove does not explicitly say that the Holy Liberator is not immune to his own magic, he is therefor immune to it. In all instances where a creature or character is meant to be immune to its own effects it says it. So because it doesn't say it, the Holy Liberator can't cast his heroism on himself. Would anyone disagree that this is how it works right now, in the strict sense, and that the Aura of Resolve needs to be clarified/fixed? Regards, Eric Anondson |
| #92zombiegleemaxAug 08, 2004 23:18:26 | Yes, the Holy Liberator is immune to charm and compulsion effects, and grants a +4 morale bonus to allies within 10 feet against such spells. But heroism has (harmless) in both Saving Throws and Spell Resistance. That means you can choose if such a spell will affect you or not. |
| #93eric_anondsonAug 08, 2004 23:27:48 | Originally posted by Christian Landry I certainly don't disagree with you, but I'm not familiar with where I could go to back this claim up were I asked to find the page number that says this that has (harmless) spell can be cast upon a creature that is immune to it. I know that creatures can suppress their resistances, the PHB says elves can suppress their sleep resistance[/i], but I was under the impression this takes a standard action to suppress such things. So, say I get a DM who is a stickler on this, what page references would I cite him to prove the point? Regards, Eric Anondson |
| #94negetaAug 20, 2004 13:08:27 | I have a question about the Contemplative ability Divine Soul. Do you add all class levels for your SR, or only the contemplative levels? It reads like it's all, since in abilities like Divine Wholeness, it specifically mentions "her contemplative level," and Divine Soul says "her class level." I just want to be sure. |
| #95_teo_Sep 05, 2009 4:07:06 | Just one question: is it correct that the Favored Soul has only Knowledge (arcane) as class skills? What about Knowledge (religion)? He's a divine spellcaster and he needs that skill for a lot of Prestige Classes.. |
