| #1zombiegleemaxJan 13, 2004 5:02:02 | Ok, to anyone who has copies of the very old magazines or the Archives on your computer I have a challenge. I remember a comic (can't rememebr its name) where a dragon was having a battle with what looked like a black panther with feathered wings. Do any of you gurus recall the name of this comic? if you do, do you also know what Magazine issue(s) this battle was put in? I'm trying to remember it and I can't for the life of me. (My dad owns the magazines but they're packed up in boxes in our garage behind demigods know what else)Big thanks in advance! Alkuna |
| #2zombiegleemaxJan 13, 2004 11:08:48 | that is probably a displacer beast. sorry, i don't have the magazines or archive with me at work. i'll check tonight. |
| #3zombiegleemaxJan 13, 2004 11:39:04 | The comic's name was "Wormy". I don't recall the exact issues off the top of my head, but I can look them up tonight (1/13) and post tomorrow. Oh, the fight included a Wizard too. I seem to recall that the fight ended by the wizard being knocked thru a gate spell by a large six-sided die, and the flying panther going through the dragon's flame into a different "sphere" of existence. It's been a while, so my recall may be a bit off. |
| #4zombiegleemaxJan 13, 2004 12:06:52 | i miss Wormy. DAT was the man. |
| #5zombiegleemaxJan 13, 2004 14:33:32 | I don't think it was a displacer beast... it didn't have the tell tale tentacles of one. But the comic name is a help. And I appreciate you looking it up for me. =3 |
| #6zombiegleemaxJan 13, 2004 14:42:30 | No, I don't recall it being a displacer beast. It was a large black panther with wings. |
| #7devinmdpJan 13, 2004 20:21:13 | It was NOT a displacer beast. And Wormy rocked! The best comic to ever appear in Dragon and frankly one of the best comics ever IMO. Devin |
| #8zombiegleemaxJan 14, 2004 8:53:48 | Ok, here's the summary, from my admittedly incomplete Dragon collection from that era. The first issue I have showing the wizard and the winged panther is #58. Isssue #59 has no Wormy. Issue #60 has a Wormy strip, but unrelated to that storyline. I don't have issues #61-64. Issue #65 continues the story, showing the wizard having charmed some of the ogres. #66 shows the panther battling a demon from one of the orbs. I am missing #67. Issue #68 shows the dragon and his cyclops friend encountering a few of the ogres. Issue #69 continues the story, ending with the dragon about to encounter the panther. I don't have issue #70. Issue #71 shows an ogre encountering the cyclop's cyclopean dog, and encountering a thing from a crevasse in the treasure area. Issue #72 focuses on the wizard opening a dimensional portal. I don't have issue #73. Issue #74 is the fight with the wizard and the dragon. I don't have issue #75, but I assume that's the conclusion, as in #76, the dragon and cyclops are discussing the resolution of the battle. I hope this information helps! If you are interested in any of the issues I have, e-mail me at "quack_attack1990@yahoo.com", and we can talk off-forum. I miss Wormy too. It was, in my opinion, one of the best of the old cartoons in the old Dragons, along with "What's New with Phil and Dixie". |
| #9devinmdpJan 14, 2004 13:46:07 | FYI Wormy was in the mag way before issue #50. and as I recall the panther has pretty much been a character in it from the beginning. Devin |
| #10zombiegleemaxJan 14, 2004 14:06:46 | thank you for looking that up. I'm sure that took a while. Alkuna |
| #11zombiegleemaxJan 14, 2004 15:50:54 | You're welcome. The panther may have been in Wormy prior to what I've described, but #55 is the oldest issue I have, so I couldn't tell you for sure. Hope you find the story and enjoy it!! |
| #12zombiegleemaxJan 16, 2004 7:30:47 | Originally posted by quack_attack1990 the last Phil and Dixie was in the Book of Erotic Elf pr0n from Valar. ![]() as for Wormy...well it was in The Dragon for a very long time. took a short hiatus when Dave got married and moved to CA. and then returned. but when Dave Trampier quit gaming well... ![]() |

| #14marathsaerynJan 18, 2004 23:58:29 | Ok, I believe I have some more information on your request. My apologies if I repeat anything already said. The first appearance of the panther with wings, called the Shadowcat, is in issue 49. The Shadowcat also appears in issues 51, 58, 63, 64, 65, 66, 69, 70 (battle with Wormy and Shadowcat begins here in which Shadowcat leaves through some kind of sphere after Wormy RALPHS fire at him). In issue 74 the wizard casts some spells on the dog, Hambone, and escapes Wormy through a portal. There is no real fight between the wizard and the dragon. Issues 75 and 76 continue on to other things and there is no appearance of the wizard or the Shadowcat after issue 74 through issue 100, which is where I stopped looking. Therefore if you were looking for one issue number to answer your question, that is Dragon Issue 70. Hope this helps! |
