Oct 17, 2006 14:15:53 I am trying to find the origins of a magic item called the Deathlance. It was a first or second edition magic item, probably from a module. Does anyone know where it first appeared? Thanks!

Oct 17, 2006 16:06:26 D1 Descent to the Depths of the Earth page 8 published in 1978 was the first appearance as far as I'm aware. A adventure module from the classic GDQ1-7 Queen of Spiders campaign.

Oct 18, 2006 15:36:43 G3 was The Hall of the Fire Giant King. I couldn't find any reference in it to the Death Lance, although I might have missed it. I think the first appearance was D1.

Oct 19, 2006 1:08:42 doesn't the Encyclopedia Magica's have the reference of the items origin with every entry?

Oct 19, 2006 12:03:17 Yes, it's in D1, wielded by a drow riding a nightmare. We just ran through that a few weeks ago. I haven't decided if counts as drow equipment or not. It's described as made of black metal so maybe it is.

Oct 19, 2006 14:05:21 In the Encyclopedia Magica vol.2 it says it came from the Descent Into the Depths of the Earth (1978) like Elendur said but there is no mention of it being a drow weapon.
