Jan 16, 2004 19:50:11 My sister is a 1st grade teacher.....she just came back from a local teacher supply store w/ a bag of handpicked translucent and opaque, swirls, etc. 25 cents/die!!! All different styles and sizes too.....so check your local teacher supply store, they're used as teaching aides!!! Goin' dice shoppin' tomorrow!

I believe you just stumbled upon [b]exactly[/b] how Gary Gygax "discovered" the polyhedral dice he included with the very first D&D game. He scribbled his own numbers when he was developing the rules.

Jan 20, 2004 22:23:09 Ok went dice shopping (don't want sound smug here) bought 60 dice, great quality, all variations, for $16, Spent an hour going through the bucket, there were a ton of bad quality cheapies w/ sloppy number stamping, but I got some really great ones opaque, translucent, etc.......yea!!! Check out you local toy store!!

For months I've been looking at dice on Ebay and after buying a cheesy Chessex set, I vowed to see them before buying.....standouts are 4 frosted 20's, 4 gun metal grey w/ red number 10's, 3 mother of pearl w/ white number 10's, a large green 4, the translucents are neat but I think the quality of the opaque dice blows them away... I think I'm set for awhile..........:D

Jan 28, 2004 21:32:53 You can look aroind on Ebay and find some good deals on there. I bought a pounds worth of dice for $15 on there. Better then spending that much on fust a 4, 8, and a 20 sided.

Jan 31, 2004 21:57:38 I rarely buy new dice because i feel my old babies haven't done me wrong for a while, sure theres the occasional screw up but i trust my dice and trust is the basis of any dice-player relationship. I would never make my dice "Jealous" by buying new ones. I have one speacil one in a locked Oak case that has two keys to it and is packaged in buble wrap when not in use. whcih is almost all the time since i've used it only 5 times and got either a 19 or 20 all 5 times.
