I didn't even know him personally, but I feel like I did, because of being so familiar with his work. It feels like someone in my family died. Then again, I guess he was in my family, in a way. We all are. Anyways, goodbye, Gary. We love you, and all that you did for us.

My adolescent self learned innumerable life lessons on multifarious subjects while I had the time of my life. His work has never been improved upon or even equaled, and we are all poorer for his passing. Truly a sad day. If it hadnt been for Mr. Gygax, I wouldnt have made the friends I have or met my wife. Thank you Gary for giving me a hobby and expanding my horizons. My dice lay silent in a moment of reverance.
#9 ferns Mar 05, 2008 1:59:06	Travel safely to whereever you are going Gary, thank you for all the fun memories you have given me in the form of your game, you will never die in my heart, i will continue playing dungeons and dragons for as long as i can find the joy in it. I have been playing for 17 years now and is still finding the joy in playing a good roleplaying session, i am sure it will be at least 17 years of playing this great game. Its a hobby, a lifestyle, a playground and therefor something we all love. Thank you for that

Read on: ____________ For those of you who haven't heard yet, Gary Gygax, the creator of the hobby we have all come to love so much passed away today. The man who has, inadvertantly been a part of our life every time we have shuddered at the mere mention of the Tomb of Horrors, and gave grown men an excuse to spend their Friday nights (and sometimes Saturdays and Sundays) pretending to be Elves so they could create a story. I've never met him, but have a great debt of gratitude that can't be repaid. #12 rubermavors Mar 07, 2008 7:41:00	strangely enough my group is just starting the Tomb of Horrors, I have already told the players that it will be dedicated to Gary. Specifically the first tpk due to non-saving throw spells or terribly nasty trap. Gary you will be missed.
#13 horemheb442 Mar 08, 2008 5:51:11	Isn't it amazing how the creation of a single game was able to affect so many lives? I've heard it said that one version of immortality is to be remembered favorably by people...in that sense, I'd say Gary is immortal. What a creation! May we all play this until the everlasting Dark rolls over us. I wish I could have met the man in person. There are so many questions I would still ask, but what, more fitting, memorial could we do than to keep playing the game? Share it with the young. I am almost 60 and I play with people less than a third my age. My daughter is 17 and loves 2nd Ed. The things that cross generations like that are rare, and they have one trait in common...quality. Way to go, Gary, you will be missed.
