#1 kengar Apr 19, 2004 8:34:05	This is a suggestion for the powers that be at Wizards. Make some scan pdfs of the Moldvay Basic & Cook Expert rules (as opposed to Mentzer) and make them available for download like the Mentzer sets are on sites like svgames. I'd be more than willing to pay $5-10 for a legal download of such a file and there are many classic D&D-ers out there who prefer Moldvay to Mentzer. Why not make both versions available? If you're a fan of the Moldvay rules and would be interested in this file being legally available, reply here and show WOTC that there's a market for such a product.
#2 zombiegleemax Apr 19, 2004 8:53:51	Jim Butler had the download project years ago.... and then... now we only get what svgames is willing to scan/sell. you should contact them. as they have the rights to the downloads/pdfs

So, here's adding my voice to this thread: Give us our Moldvay/Cook/Marsh Basic/Expert! Allow SVGames/RGPNow to sell a PDF, or just declare the thing OGC, and let us fans take care of digitizing it. To do: * Email WotC directly. * Write snail mail to WotC. * Email SVGames. * Write snail mail to SVGames. * Email RPGNow. * Write snail mail to RPGNow. * ...? What else?

#7 zombiegleemax Nov 11, 2005 9:04:57	I for one would love a copy of the Moldvay/Cook edition D&D in PDF format and would pay for it or support it being made OGC. I think it would be a great thing for the OOP crowd and WOTC to work together for once :P

It's one of five or six distinct editions where that's the case, depending on how you want to count it... 1974 Brown/White box original rules - not available for download 1977 Holmes Blue Basic box - a later printing is available for download 1981 Moldvay/Cook Basic/Expert rules - not available for download 1983-86 Mentzer BECMI rules - available for download 1991 Rules Cyclopedia - available for download There were also at least three distinct printings of an introductory box printed from 1991 to 1994, which all have the same contents, just arranged a bit differently. At least one of those is available for download. Note: When I say available for download, I mean legally at Paizo or RPGNow. R.A.
