The TSR Archive is another good resource. It mixes the OAD&D and AD&D2e stuff together, though. For individual items you can check the publication year they list or the cover image.

Early 2e products usually used the AD&D logo that actually says "2nd edition", but later products eliminated that designation. You have to look at the publication year in those cases.

That TSR Archive is a good site, but for some reason the Acaeum site keeps loading with errors for me and doesn't display anything. Anyone else have that problem?

Never. I've found the Acaeum to be one of the most useful sites on the web for OOP materials.

I've only played 1st edition modules, and I only have 1st edition rulebooks. How much of a problem is it to use 2nd edition material with 1st edition rules? I've noticed a number of the Greyhawk supplements are for use with 2nd edition rules, for example.

Yeah. About every other time I go there these days the images don't load. I suspect they're getting enough traffic to occasionally exceed some bandwidth limitations.

Personally I never had any problems using 2e stuff in 1e campaigns. I think 1e and 2e are very compatible, and are pretty close to one another. 2e had alot more optional rules and supplements, but since those are optional they can be ignored or disgarded, leaving the core rulesets of 1e and 2e pretty close to one another IMO.

There are certainly some differences between 1e and 2e core rules, but they're not dramtically different.

Well except for the Bard being merely a sub-class of Thief and no longer an uber-class. Oh and the Illusionist is no longer a Magic User sub-class with its own unique spell list. That and the Half-Orc, the Monk and the Assassin have completely disappeared in the 2E core rules. But besides that very few differences. :D

Seriously though, the game mechanics are nigh-identical with next to no difficulties in using 2E stuff in a 1E game. That's why the Greyhawk Adventures hardcover has the blurb on its front cover about its compatability with the two systems.
