| #1zombiegleemaxJan 06, 2005 15:25:24 | Can I wear magical guantlets and magical rings at the same time? On a further question how many magical items can I wear at the same time without some cancelling others out? If possible tell me where this info is listed. Thanks. |

If it's full mail I'd say only those that don't have extremeties (set gems and such). I believe for realism I'd say only passive abilities would be usable. |

As for gauntlets, I don't know the answer to that one, but I would think that if two magic rings can't work on the same hand, then a ring and something covering the same hand, probably wouldn't work either. I believe this information is in the DMG in the magical items tables, in the rings descriptions...Hope this helps. |

So I guess you can just use any combination of rings and gauntlets although you still have to abide to the only two rings restriction. Personally, I would add the restriction of being unable to wear 2 protection rings at the same time (don't know for sure if the DMG allows that however). |
| #5zombiegleemaxJan 08, 2005 12:17:33 | Yes our Dm allows only 1 ring of protection at a time. But somewhere i have seen a table wich lists all the magic items usable at one time and I just can't remember where. I seem to recall it saying that guantlets and rings were compatable. I know that bracers and magical armor are not compatable. But anyways if anybody knows where i can find this info please point me towards it. thanks |
| #6failhelmJan 20, 2005 12:26:00 | This varies from DM to DM. Personally I allow it, To me it is the same as wearing a magical cloak over magical armor. or wearing a magical ring on your foot with magical boots. |
| #7TorackJan 21, 2005 5:51:31 | I believe the list is something like: 1 helmet 1 suit of armour 1 gauntlet/bracers/gloves 2 rings 1 pair of boots 1 shield 1 or 2 melee weapons, depending on whether you carry a shield or not or 1 ranged weapon. With regards to Rings of Protection, I believe the description states that they will usurp any benefits of magical items if the protection they offer is better. As such a Leather Armour +1/Bracers of AC 9/Shield +1(-3 AC IIRC) worn in conjunction with a Ring of Protection +1 will only give you a -1 to AC total. This as opposed to wearing those items without the Ring of Protection. Similarly wearing a Ring of Protection +2 and a Ring of Protection +4, only the +4 will impart its AC to the wearer, though the Saves do stack. Mind you, I'm being too lazy to actually go look for the description at the moment, so I might be off a tad. |
| #8zombiegleemaxJan 21, 2005 20:08:26 | There isn't anything I've ever seen that says you can't wear gauntlets and rings at the same time. Depending on what the gauntlets and rings do will detemine what actually works, and how well. The max you can wear is two rings at the same time, one per hand. If you wear two of the same thing, only the best will work (ie two rings of protection, one +2 and the other +4, only the +4 will work). And two rings of protection will NOT stack the bonuses on saves. You only get the best from ONE ring (if they're the same thing but different bonuses). Magic armor WILL give you a bonus to saves, but only those saves where the armor could protect you (physical harm usually, not gasses). This is outlined in the DMG. If you have bracers of defence (or protection), a ring of protection, a cloak of protection, and a scarab of protection, ALL bonuses will stack (armor and saves). With that scarab, you'll also have some pretty good saves vs. spells that don't allow them. |
