| #3weasel_fierceDec 24, 2005 2:46:11 | In AD&D1st edition, speed factors are used only for melee weapons. unlike, 2nd ed, its never used as a modifier to initiative rolls, but only to determine ties in melee. |
| #4zombiegleemaxJan 27, 2006 13:46:40 | partly b/c in the Original D&D (1974) rules based on Chainmail (1971 with the fantasy rules supplement) missile fire occured first. if you were holding say a bow and had a quiver of arrows... you could fire at the start of the round. or wait and fire at any time during the round as others moved. it meant you got them in range. |
