| #1kar-verminSep 27, 2004 15:33:31 | Let me apologize in advance; this question is about as nit-picky as they come; yet I really could use the answer, if anyone has their 1st edition PHB on them (I lost mine some years ago). It is in regards to the major discipline teleportation. What are the point costs involved for teleporting additional weight (including other people) and for eliminating the chance of a teleportation "accident"? Thanks in advance for any replies, Happy Gaming. |

You can't teleport additional weight using the psionic teleportation in 1st edition. Each point spent above the basic 20 reduces the chance of mis-teleporting by 1% (player's choice as to whether it corrects low or high). |
| #3zombiegleemaxSep 27, 2004 19:16:26 | The Area of Effect for the psionic Teleportation reads: Individual + Special, and the description reads: "This discipline is very similar to the magic-user spell, teleport (q.v.). The only major difference is that psionic energy points must be expended to use the power. Also, if points above the reqired 20 are expended, the psionic individual is able to alter the percentage probabilities of mis-teleporting (coming in too low or too high) by 1% per aditional psionic strength point expended either to correct low/or high mis-teleporting." I would say the caster can carry as much extra weight as a m-u of the same level could. Scott |

Yes, I seem to recall that's how I played it, way back when. Of course, since I still don't have my old PHB, my next question is...How much extra weight and/or people CAN a magic-user transport with the 1st ed teleport spell? Thanks again! Happy Gaming. |
| #5zombiegleemaxSep 28, 2004 16:50:25 | 250 lbs. + 150 additional lbs. per level above 10th. Scott |

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought that 250 + 150/lv was how the Teleport spell worked, not the psionic power... I'm no expert on 1st edition rules, however. All I can say is that in 2nd edition, the base was equal to the character's body mass; by doubling the PSP expenditure, the amount able to be brought along was tripled. EDIT: Wow, should have read ALL the above posts; ah well, who knows... maybe this info will help somehow... |
