#2 caeruleus Jul 07, 2007 0:46:13	Cool. Here's one thing it says: This edition is the 6th and final printing, the "Original Collector’s Edition" or white box edition. This printing was released in 1977 and is the earliest printing we can make available for download (for legal reasons). I guess that means you won't find hobbits, balrogs, and ents in this one. Still nice that they've made this available now.

Even though I have hard copies of the original rules (both 5th & 6th printings), I went to RPGNow and purchased a set in support of this move. I continue my appeal for all materials to be released on pdf and for serious consideration being given to reprinting these materials in a publish on demand format. ****************************************************************** I don't know if everyone else that is identified as old school is no longer permitted to reply to threads or start new threads like they have restricted my account or not. So the best I can do is edit this post instead of a new reply. Earlier this year (2009) WOTC in a move that is on a par with their previous destruction of D&D, is their ending the sale of OD&D in the form of pdf's. Yep, they screwed us over again. Advanced D&D 3.0, 3.5 and now 4.0 (yes the Advanced really belongs there, renaming the rewrite of 2nd Edition Advanced D&D from 3rd Edition Advanced D&D to D&D 3.0 is just one of the things WOTC has done that they thought we would swallow and not forget. But this renaming was a vile insult that can not be forgiven or forgotten. When WOTC first bought out TSR many of us old school fans thought that a new day was dawning. Little did we know that the new owners would set out to systematically destroy and ruin D&D and AD&D. First they took D&D completely out of print and then they rewrote AD&D to completely divorce it from its roots. Now what the world and the younger generations think of when they hear D&D spoken about resembles the real D&D about as much as a puddle filled with muddy water resembles the Pacific Ocean. For the all terrible evils that WOTC and Hasbro have done in regard to D&D, I will never buy anything sold by either company and I will also encourage others to do likewise. They had a chance to win 100's of thousands of customers back that they had lost over the years but they decided that they did not need us and by suspending the sale of the pdf's of the old school game and failing to make them available through print on demand they turned their backs on us and insulted us for the last time. This was their best and last chance and they blew it. You might ask why did I wait so long to post this. I waited to see if the suspension of selling old school pdf's was permanent or temporary. Having decided that it is permanent and that WOTC and Hasbro are beyond redemption, it was time to post.
