Joining a new group playing 2nd edition D&D, does anyone remember a sorcerer kit? If so, where can it be found?

Any help is appreciated, sorry if this is the wrong forum.

I dont know of one offhand, although my knowledge is hardly encyclopedic. There isnt one in The Complete Wizards Handbook, is all I can say for sure.

Assuming that you mean a kit that functions like the 3.5 Sorcerer, the Wu Jen from The Complete Wizard's Handbook is the closest I can find.

Thanks for trying guys.

Maybe I'm remembering it wrong, but I seem to remember upgrading a human wizard I had to the sorcerer kit when we were playing second edition AD&D. It probably came from a Forgotten Realms sourcebook as we played a lot of it at the time.

I've already checked Players Option: Skills and Powers (they have several kits in there), Complete Wizard, Complete Elf, Players Option: Spells ...and something, as well as most of the unlikely sources (complete priest, fighter, paladin, ninja...). None of us have any of the Forgotten Realms books, so maybe I'm just looking in the wrong place.

So far googling has just gotten me a reference to the Baldur's Gate computer games (There is a sorcerer kit in there.).

Oh yeah, all the sorcerer kit really did, was allow for spontaneous spellcasting.

Could it have been house-ruled?

No, I don't think we houseruled it, but we may also have gotten it from one of the other settings (we played most of them at one time or another).

Kara-tur, Maztica, Greyhawk, Dark Sun, Al-Quadim, others that I don't recall anymore.

I may just give up or try to build one myself.

The only sorcerer kit I've seen for 2e was in the Al Qadim Players Guide. The sorcerer of Al Qadim was basically an elementalist. He could choose two elemental domains to cast spells from.

Might have been the Arcanist from this book?

Also, the Sha'ir kit from Al Qadim allows the wizard to (sort-of) cast spells without previous memorization. However, it is quite different from standard wizards.

The Witches of Rashemen - the regional kit allowed in FR by the Wizards and Rogues of the Realms book did just what you are looking for - they can cast spells like a 3e sorcerer from their list of spells known, limited only by the allowable number of spells per day. However, all spells have their casting time doubled, and all spells require V, S, and M components - suitably made up when not normally listed.

Add in the actual Witch kit from the Wizard handbook, or something else, and you've got a nasty character.

As mentioned before, Baldurs Gate 2 had the Sorceror.

It WAS a class, not a kit.

The rules for that class came in the rules summary of the game in it's instruction booklet (which was quite thick).
