Jan 06, 2004 19:01:13 I was going over my old white box set and noticed the mention of needing Avalon Hill's outdoor Survival game. I never used this game to play D&D when I was playing. Well out of interest I started trying to find pdf file of the rule book. Avalon Hill (Hasbro) does not have a download file for the rulebook. I have seen the whole game online, but I don't really want to buy it.

I was wondering if anyone knew where I could download a copy somewhere?

Jan 06, 2004 20:17:26 Outdoor Survival is a board game, not a rulebook. In fact, the rules are on a folded-up large sheet of paper.

It shouldn't be too difficult to find a real copy of Outdoor Survival somewhere. Avalon Hill printed it for years and years. See details at the Acaeum. I found my copy at a toy store a couple of years ago, being sold as if it were any other boardgame (which it more or less is--the only thing it was used in D&D for was the board).

There are a number of copies for sale on eBay.

Jan 08, 2004 16:37:14 Not sure if this information will help any or not. Look into buying a book called the Wilderness Survival Guide... It is an outof print First edition book with lots of rules for outdoor survival.... About 10 bucks if you find a good copy... Well worth buying too.. Good luck

Jan 09, 2004 7:27:13 the real use of Outdoor Survival (1973) by Avalon Hill was like Stormcrow said: the board. and for keeping track of getting lost in the wilderness.

the rules use a d6 and you move around until you get off the board or die from the elements/starvation/dehydration.

i recently bought 2 more copies on ebay. :embarrass

i can't help myself. i buy all the old stuff when it comes in my price range.
