Hi all

I was wondering if there has ever been made records over the population numbers in all of Faerûn, in the different regions and cities all over.

I think its hard to find out how many people lives in a city, and often I just come up with some plausible number for whatever I think is reasonable in my setting.

But it would be nice to have a reference chart/book where I can find the approximate population.

I mostly have my setting in AD&D 2nd ed, forgotten realms, so thats where I would like to have the numbers from. If they exist at all?

I've never seen it in 2ed, although it does exist in 3.5

I seem to recall the Forgotten Realms Adventures hardcover book having populations for all the major city entries in it.

I certainly don't have all the books on the Realms, but my Volo's Guide to the North includes a population in the blurb for each city. I don't see any such information in the revised campaign setting or the Player's Guide to the Forgotten Realms. If you don't have hard copies of the Volo's guides, you can download some free pdf's from here:

http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/dnd/downloads

EDIT: After looking through those downloads, the Volo's guides for the Dalelands and Cormyr also have population information.

Thanks a lot Karelias!! :D

That info was certainly useful, i had a look in the 3.5 campaign setting and there the population is really "downgraded" compared to what you just came up with. I like your chart much better and will use it big time.
