Sep 06, 2005 15:12:45 Is there anyone else who finds D&D a winter hobby? For me it seems like I`m not in to ot much in the summer months, then in the fall I get back in to it.

Sep 06, 2005 16:34:12 Actually, we seem to get more gaming done in the summer. No school, fewer athletics, and (lately) West Nile encouraging us to stay inside.

You don't know fun, btw, until you play a sailing adventure on the diving raft at the lake. Player Overboard!

Yup. Too much to do outside during the Summer months.

The game originally had strong Midwestern roots. Ron Edwards of the Forge refers to the "D&D Belt," running from Madison, WI to Springfield, IL. I've asked Gary Gygax why he thinks so much of the history of rpg's (and war games, too, for that matter) began in the Midwest. His reply was, "the weather." People were looking for something to do when it started snowing.

Mar 31, 2006 1:19:36 Try to play as much as i can, when ever i can... Family, work(self-employed), school, planning next chapter in adventure, waiting to play in friends adventure...(haha). My vote goes for anytime possible.
Remember most of the fun games in the past in the summer. easier to play three days in a row with only 1.5 hours of sleep. lol (those were the days)

Mar 31, 2006 18:24:06 generally, my game dies for two months during the holidays... November and December. After that, we pretty much get together every two weeks.

Apr 01, 2006 9:53:44 Yeah. I really only take breaks from our weekly game on Major Holidays: Xmas, New Years, and so forth. Other than that it would take more than weather to get me to not play.
