Spells of unknown origin…

Hi, everyone!

I'm building a very complete database of 2nd edition spells (priest and wizard) to generate my characters spell lists. To avoid having to type every single spells (I'm up to 4050), I looked around on the net and found text files of the player's handbook, druid's handbook and all the others of this series and found a way to import the information into my database.

I also found files made for some other application containing spells from the seven spell compendiums but there are some strange things. Some spells were missing so I typed them manually but, more strangely, some spells in these files, I can't find in any of my books.

Here are the spells, can anyone tell me if they know if these are real spells and where they come from.

Mind Tracker (Pr7) (Supposedly from the tome of Magic though not in my version…)
Cutting Wind (W5)
Dream of the Earth (W5)
Emirikol's Question
Mass Identify (W7)

Also, if anyone knows of books containing spells that were made after the spell compendiums, I would appreciate if you could tell me.

I know some spells were deleted because of balance issues, and a few 1st Editions were updated for the compendiums. I can't source those you're asking about, but hopefully someone else can.

Off the top of my head, I'd have to say that the PSC is the final word, because they switched editions about the time it came out. A wizardly player will need to pass on the goodies post-WSC.

Indeed, some spells were deleted for game balance (like the first level wizard spell protection from hunger and thirst) but they are usually mentioned without stats in the compendiums as being "lost spells".

The spells I mentioned are not included at all. That's why I'm not sure they're real spells…

Perhaps they are "net" spells? Made up by people from the WWW?

ProtHTh got transferred to the cleric list, then was dropped altogether (but they still have Rings of Sustenance). If you can't find anything on these, you may have to write them off as well.

The Emirikol spell may be wild magic (he was a chaotic guy) and Mass Identify might have been an early version of the 3E spell by that name.

After a little research, I found a few spells in books I have that are not in the Spell Compendiums. I found them in "Hellbound the Blood War" and "The Planewarker's Handbook". About 25 spells from these sources are not in the compendiums. So if you run planescape games, don't use only the compendiums as reference.

This also means that spells from the last products of other settings may be missing from the compendiums. If you know of any, please tell me.
